Came the closest ever to shitting my pants on an interstate today. Work truck a few up from us lost its ladder with all of us going around 80 mph. Right into our lane. Luckily there was room for my car to slam into passing lane. It felt like a final destination movie. Saw the guy in rearview running down the side of road at full speed. Had to look away. I didn't want to see him go splat trying to grab it.

Dropping in to say howdy. Been a while. Hope Christmas was aces for everyone. Ava's "Dear Reign" post in the December 24th chat was the post of the year.

I believe I've mentioned in passing that I have a cousin my age who is gay. Maybe you guys might remember. But the only reason I bring this up is because yesterday he just fucking up and died. Diabetes runs on my Mom's side of the family and he was one of the unlucky ones who got hit with it at a young age. I think he was like 15 at the time he was diagnosed with it. He's been having problems with his kidneys retaining too much water. He went from 155 pounds to like 220. Dropped down to about 190, but at the bus stop yesterday he collapsed and died. His heart just gave out. Fucking insane.

My poor Uncle, man. His wife of 20+ years divorced him some years back for essentially no reason. Remarried right away, it was fucking bizarre. I've never even seen them argue in my life. He's been living by himself ever since. Right around that time, my Grandpa died (his Dad). Then a few years later, he had to bury his little sister (my Aunt) a bit too young. It was super sudden. Then his older brother (another Uncle) died a couple years back. Then he had a huge issue with his kidneys and nearly died himself. And now his son just died seemingly out of nowhere. Yeah, he was having problems with the diabetes, but I don't think death was anywhere near on the radar. My uncle's one of the absolute nicest guys you'll ever meet. Even through all the shit he's endured he's always smiling and laughing. The last person you'd want to see go through something like this, and of course he's the one going through all that shit. Most bummed for him.

Yeah that's just a little crazy. I remember the cousin, not sure how close you guys were, but I would be properly freaked out right now. And the Uncle, holy shit. Nothing but love for you and your family, I'm sure things are a bit of a whirlwind now, but keep us posted. I'm sorry my man, and may he rest in peace.

We would mainly hang out a little at family gatherings and stuff. Play video games as kids and shit. Haven't seen him in a couple years or so. He was a really upbeat and energetic guy. Seemed really happy whenever I'd see him. Kinda felt like he distanced himself from family gatherings, though. We never talked politics at family reunions, but my family is probably mostly Conservative and he posts a lot of really mean anti-Conservative stuff on facebook. Nobody loved him any less or treated him remotely different because he was gay, but politics is just touchy. He and I never talked about it, but there's just a kind of sinking feeling in my stomach that he distanced himself from the more Conservative side of the family because he just hated that viewpoint.

Love everyone, regardless of politics. Please. That board at the bottom of our forum disgusts me to look at.
