Morning HMFers!

Off to see 1917 in a bit.
Just came back from a store. Weird experience. Store is closing and I think they were letting the employees go gung ho on the loudspeaker thing. I heard a lot of sport trash talking, happy birthdays and what sounded like drunk rambling. :P
What is everyone doing this weekend?

Jmac Attack wrote:Opened up for hed PE last night. Apparently they raved about my band, but I was too busy drinking Crown Royal with their tour bus driver (he could only have two shots), so I finished the bottle for him. Cool dude. Very fun times.
Watched the video of the Colombus gig of that band on Facebook. Looking at the stage there was an X, L, P or F. I'm thinking maybe the X means a mark to stand? Is it scribble or does that stuff have meaning. *curious*

Gonna watch Birds of Prey in a couple hours here. I do crave watching 1917 again. I can't stop thinking about that movie. It's deceptively simple, and my mind just keeps unwrapping layers in the characters that didn't seem like they were there, but they are. I didn't think repeat viewings would help due to its cinematography gimmick, but nope, I loved it even more on the 2nd time.

You had me at steak and cheese. Looks good!

Ordered pizza tonight. CHEAT NIGHT! WOOHOO! Started a paleo/Whole 30 mashup diet Jan 1st of this year. (which is the bestest thing EVER! Tummy is happiest it has been in 10 fricking years! Over half of my pain is gone! ) Have not had anything to eat but meat fruit and veggies in a while. Food prep is tiring though when eating so clean. No bread, no dairy, no corn products, no processed food/snacks, no sugars etc. Nice to have a night off of cooking tonight. Also lost 10 lbs since started. More happy about the tummy happiness though.

I have had to eat sweet potatoes though. Ugh. Those things are fucking stupid. Gal at work was throwing pepperoni slice on it for me so I would stop making scrunched up barfy faces while eating it.

I think 1917 is masterful cinema. It really is. But I needed to switch off my mind a bit more.

It’s really good but it’s strange to me that it’s dominated award season. In a really strong year for movies too.
Not removing until John Elway is fired.

What else should dominate, Joker?

Not a big fan, but Phoenix was excellent and deserving of Best Actor. I don’t really think any one movie should be dominating, I could see the case for several. I think The Irishman is my favorite of the year and it might not win a single Oscar.

The 1917 thing is strange to me because you usually reward a movie with great performances or a great story. This is a technical gimmick movie. A really well done one but still.

Jojo Rabbit seems like the type of flick that should be dominating.

If Marriage Story wasn’t a Netflix (Academy hates them), that one too.

Disappointed Vince didn’t recreate his “THIS IS THE XFL” promo.

Mad Max had more plot than 1917, which is what bugs me in a way.
