February 15th 2018
It's almost Friday
Re: February 15th 2018
Had my one year a few days ago. $2 raise. Pay day tomorrow, and they're giving me 40 hours of vacation pay for my one year anniversary.
Big money this week.

Is it? What does that work out in real terms?Tiggnutz wrote:$2 Is a nice bump!Jason wrote:Had my one year a few days ago. $2 raise. Pay day tomorrow, and they're giving me 40 hours of vacation pay for my one year anniversary.

Re: February 15th 2018
2 more dollars an hour
Re: February 15th 2018
Ive never gotten a 2 bone raise that I can remember
Re: February 15th 2018
The company I work for doesn't want people to quit right after getting hired, so they give everybody a two dollar raise after one year. 1.50 the next year. $1 every year after I think.

2*40*52=4160 annually. Simple maths.showa58taro wrote:But in real terms? You gotta remember I’m not an hourly worker kinda guy.

Thank you. That makes more sense to me. Didn’t know what hours look like in hourly jobs. Or if they tend to be that consistent.Slaughterhouserock wrote:2*40*52=4160 annually. Simple maths.showa58taro wrote:But in real terms? You gotta remember I’m not an hourly worker kinda guy.

Depends on the job. Forty hours is supposed to be normal, but most places want you to work more these days.showa58taro wrote:Thank you. That makes more sense to me. Didn’t know what hours look like in hourly jobs. Or if they tend to be that consistent.

And where would you normally be? 6-8 per hour? Or more like 20-25 type thing?Slaughterhouserock wrote:Depends on the job. Not sure what you're asking about here. As in 6-8 dollars/hour? That depends on the job and the location. Minimum wage in florida is $8.25/hour. A livable wage in my town is about $14/hour(i.e. you can pay your bills and have money for food and necessities, but you'll live in the ghetto and not have money for anything else). In a place like LA or NYC, that same $14/hour wouldn't even come close to paying your rent, let alone anything you need to survive. So yeah, it varies wildly by location and job.showa58taro wrote:And where would you normally be? 6-8 per hour? Or more like 20-25 type thing?

Nice. I haven't had a raise since 2016, but I've had rent go up since! Boss claims the money just isn't being made to justify raises right now.Jason wrote:Had my one year a few days ago. $2 raise. Pay day tomorrow, and they're giving me 40 hours of vacation pay for my one year anniversary.

Re: February 15th 2018
The issue is not the companies and the wage, though. The issue is the overcharging of rent and utilities.
In fact, I just got a notice from the water company that said they were going to nearly quadruple the water bill for residents in my town by 2020. The notice said they wouldn't do it if they received 40,000 letters of complaints. They received 43, total.
Liberals can increase the minimum wage all they want, it's not going to stop the gas, electric and water companies from bending you over and fucking you in the ass.

Was trying to gauge how large a $2 increase is. Obviously 8 -> 10 is a significantly more sizable increase compared to 23 -> 25.Slaughterhouserock wrote:Not sure what you're asking about here. I’m basically showing my ignorance as to how the real world works. I got lucky in life and in employment. I recently got a promotion that I think gave me $10,000 more per annum. All because I lucked out in life b

Not mine, or anybody I know. Most have been cutting people off at 40, and some less than 20.Slaughterhouserock wrote:Depends on the job. Like me! Only in SoCal the livable wage is more like $22, like you mention.Slaughterhouserock wrote:Not sure what you're asking about here. As in 6-8 dollars/hour?
