Ive never gotten a 2 bone raise that I can remember

The company I work for doesn't want people to quit right after getting hired, so they give everybody a two dollar raise after one year. 1.50 the next year. $1 every year after I think.

Depends on the job. Forty hours is supposed to be normal, but most places want you to work more these days.

Not sure what you're asking about here. As in 6-8 dollars/hour? That depends on the job and the location. Minimum wage in florida is $8.25/hour. A livable wage in my town is about $14/hour(i.e. you can pay your bills and have money for food and necessities, but you'll live in the ghetto and not have money for anything else). In a place like LA or NYC, that same $14/hour wouldn't even come close to paying your rent, let alone anything you need to survive. So yeah, it varies wildly by location and job.

Nice. I haven't had a raise since 2016, but I've had rent go up since! Boss claims the money just isn't being made to justify raises right now.

The issue is not the companies and the wage, though. The issue is the overcharging of rent and utilities.

In fact, I just got a notice from the water company that said they were going to nearly quadruple the water bill for residents in my town by 2020. The notice said they wouldn't do it if they received 40,000 letters of complaints. They received 43, total.

Liberals can increase the minimum wage all they want, it's not going to stop the gas, electric and water companies from bending you over and fucking you in the ass.

A livable wage in my town is about $14/hour(i.e. you can pay your bills and have money for food and necessities, but you'll live in the ghetto and not have money for anything else). In a place like LA or NYC, that same $14/hour wouldn't even come close to paying your rent, let alone anything you need to survive. So yeah, it varies wildly by location and job.

Was trying to gauge how large a $2 increase is. Obviously 8 -> 10 is a significantly more sizable increase compared to 23 -> 25.
