I don’t know if it’s helpful but most panic attacks subside if you count down from 100. Sounds stupid I know but it tends to work.Jason wrote:Absolutely. Just a weird, annoying experience.showa58taro wrote:You ok buddy?Jason wrote:Had another panic attack, methinks? (wtf)

Yup. Same principle I guess. Just a helpful way to try and advance the feeling and get it to subside.Dream wrote:showa58taro wrote:I don’t know if it’s helpful but most panic attacks subside if you count down from 100. I count things in the room that are plentiful (dots on the ceiling if it's textured, tiles on the floor, lines in woodgrain, a certain aspect of a pattern on a curtain or bedspread or wallpaper, etc.)
The details are pretty much that my mom keeps giving her canned and boxed food to "keep her from starving to death" which my sister and her boyfriend then sell for drug money. My mom's argument is she will not let my sister starve to death. I said I'm not asking her to, I'm asking her to think about what help she gives. Canned and boxed food can be sold, a plate of cooked food is much less likely to be sold, but my sister is also much less likely to be appreciative of it and might actually get pissed off because she can't sell it!Jason wrote:When talking to your mom, it's important to remember that we don't know what it is like to have children of our own, and it is a totally different kind of love than the love we are accustomed to. I'm certain that nobody is hurting from the situation more than her. Not saying your mom is correct in the situation, as I don't know all the details, but she will almost surely never quit on your sister.
