Whilst the list looks like it could be a "the best" type one, I'm not sure everyone would say things like Rosemary's Baby and The Wicker Man were really scary. Just interesting to watch.

i don't think it's even a good "best" list. no one would rank human centipede in the best 50 of all time. :P

The Witches? As in that Anjelica Houston one?
Between that and The Others I think they are just messing with us. Scariest horrors. MmmHmm. Suuuure. ;)

I still haven't seen Salo, Cannibal Holocaust, Freaks, Get Out, God Told Me To and Lords of Salem so can't comment on those.

Wolf Creek I would keep there. If you stick me on a plane tomorrow and send me to Australia I'm going to be looking behind me for Mick. I don't even want to meet someone named Mick from there. LOL. Won't be able to help it.
TCM. Hell yeah, the original creeps me out still no matter how many times I watch. <3

GTFO with Psycho, Audition, Scream, Cabin Fever and Candyman.

And while I LOVED Dumplings and liked The Strangers they are no way near "scariest".

It was fun to watch though. Once. Just once. :P

Lords of Salem and BWP belong on the 50 most boring horror movies along with RB.

Carrie is scarier than Black Christmas?

That tampon throw must put it over the top. *giggles*

it is pretty all over the place. even confused as to whether it's meant to be a scariest or a best list, within the article itself. :P

but i don't like the hate being thrown around for some cool stuff, like carrie and candyman. :P

The list strikes me as one drummed up for controversy, rather than a good list.

Sorry zombs, everyone knows that putting Human Centipede as top 10 scary when it is nothing more thank schlock shock (and the idea was better than the execution) is taking the piss.

Dude, you're telling me. They must still get breastfed by their mothers if those films rank on a 50 scary list.

That's what me thinking.

Though, I'm pretty sure the heavy religious types still find the concept of Rosemary's Baby incredibly scary (especially the devil rape scene) but outside that, I don't see much scare to go on.

Under The Skin shouldn't even be considered for a list of this nature. I can see it on a 50 best art house horrors instead, because It's anything but scary. Hell, i'm not even sure if half the people who watched it figured out what was actually going on within the film. It would leave them more confused then scared.

They also must of polled a lot of black people coming out of Get out for it to rank on this list. Good movie, but it doesn't belong on the list.

Goodnight Mommy can just go fuck off as well. What's scary when the fucking twist is given away within the first minute of the film?

The Descent has a more legitimate reason to be on this list and it's nowhere to be seen and they put films like Cabin Fever and Human Centipede instead?

List creator is a dumbass.

Was it polled? Seemed like just one magazine's opinion, which usually they aim for broad, which does explain why us hardcore horror fans are reacting miffed.

You did, but that is the one that is glaringly wtf. Take it off and bump Psycho up and I think most of us would look at that as a pretty generic but innocuous top 10 even for "scary", with the exception of the Wicker Man (as much as I loathe Rosemary's Baby, I can concede to D's point).
