I'm VERY conflicted with Halloween Ends.

I wrote this on FB: "I'm very torn on this one. On one hand, as a capstone to this new trilogy, it's a bad pay-off. Pretty flaccid. On the other hand, it's actually well-made, acted, paced, and intense as a stand-alone film.[snip]

Well made trash is still trash. The quality of acting, directing, etc. means nothing if the script sucks.

First time watching The Evil Dead on a 4K Blu-ray i got along with a 4K The Thing earlier this year

It's actually worse to me. You had a whole cadre of talented, highly paid individuals that knew it was shit, and just polished it anyways.

Yeah I disagree completely, but I should know that going in with this site. So further commentary is pointless.

While I haven't seen his 90's work, this is so far definitely better than Argento's latter work that I've seen. Even if I don't remember Mother of Tears very well (I don't recall hating it, or loving it, but clearly it was forgettable), and his Dracula was just terrible across the board. This really feels like the Dario of old, only less surreal (it fits best with Tenebrae, really).

The music is killer.
