Yeah Dark Glasses was pretty damn good. The music score is definitely taking the lead for Best Music Score for this challenge, and so far the blind hooker is our only Ta-Ta's contender.

Also went way back with Todd Browning's Dracula. I want to hit 31 vampire movies, and need to pick up my slack.

Re: October Challenge 2022 Discussion Thread
Think I'm finally picking up on one of the reasons why I don't dig this Dracula film as much as other Dracula films or even other Universal Monster films: The music is too minimal, so you get this dry hiss going on when no one's speaking. It's a distracting hiss and I'm surprised that future versions didn't try cleaning it up.

Re: October Challenge 2022 Discussion Thread
Supposed to be a direct sequel taking right after the 1931 film, but with the cars & clothing it's clearly decades later lol

Re: October Challenge 2022 Discussion Thread
For a 71 minute movie, there has been a lot of bland exposition padding.

About to start up Guillermo del Toro's Cronos. Hoping for more horror than fantasy, but I'm not holding my breath.

More fantasy than I would have liked, but still found it horror enough to count. Time #notwasted.

New watch Planet of the Vampires. I didn't know this was directed by Mario Bava until I saw the opening credits.
Re: October Challenge 2022 Discussion Thread
New watch The Wasp Woman. 3 of my last 4 films have been from 1959

Re: October Challenge 2022 Discussion Thread
Since we all know Grampa is a vampire hunter (or at least knows enough about them), what if all those stuffed animals he kept trying to give Sam (and the Widow Johnson) had special stuffing that helped protect them from vampires?
Probably a stretch, but fun to think about.
Could explain why a noob half-vamp Michael is so sickly in that house (other than, ya know, transforming ).

Re: October Challenge 2022 Discussion Thread
To date, Lost Boys still has my favorite vampire-makeup look. Especially the fang placement. I based the fang placement of vamps in my books off of this film.

I thought so too. I groaned when I saw the kid getting involved. I thought he was going to be annoying but he was a good sidekick! I loved that he understood her job. That water snake scene... I thought they were done for! My only gripe was the twist. Bit predictable but other than that, fun.
