I would have cut most of the family stuff at this stage in the movie and just went all in on the paranoid rabbit hole dive. Don't need that many scenes with the wife getting annoyed.

Some of the background on Oswald isn't in the original cut. A lot of it so far is just extra dialogue + info on the case.

There's almost nothing to the L. Fletcher Prouty / X theory on Ed Lansdale / General Y directing the assassination.

But it is an incredible scene.

The FBI switched out the bullet somewhere in the chain of custody imo. There's no way that bullet wouldn't have been totally distorted. The physics of the magic bullet theory I'm more agnostic on and I think it gets disproportionately more discussed than other, more interesting parts of the case.

The recreation of the shooting...just incredible work by Oliver Stone. And nobody could have done it like him

Garrison is the closest thing to Atticus Finch in a modern movie. It's an amazing role. There is a lot of romanticized boomer shit with Stone in this movie but it's because Stone really cares about this stuff.

We'd know so much less about the case today if this movie hadn't put immense pressure on the government to release files. Stone did help researchers pick up where Garrison got stonewalled. Kinda beautiful.

Missed out on this but did end up watching it over the course of a few days after work. Good movie. I get so deep in the assassination that it's weird to see this stuff brought up in a major motion picture, but it was well done. Actually bought my first ever digital movie/documentary purchase. Bought JFK: Destiny Betrayed on youtube for 20 bucks. Kinda worth it, didn't bring up many things I didn't already know but it's so intriguing watching this stuff get talked about. It's a 4-part documentary with Donald Sutherland narrating part 1 and Whoopie Goldberg doing 2-4. Almost insufferable hearing her trying to read the pages and put an interesting spin on it. Should have kept Sutherland.
