The House of the Cuckoo Birds (1965) wasn't great, but I enjoyed the atmosphere and setting. Decent climax, likely inspired by Psycho, I imagine. Nice proto-slasher.
is that the nest of the cuckoo birds? if not, i can't seem to find anything on it.
Sorry, yeah, my mind's in another world. I was close, though.
indeed. close enough. looks like it's on youtube if this is right.

all you need is death is great at building intrigue and atmosphere. definitely holding my interest, but i'm not exactly sure what's going on. maybe it will all come together and resolve itself in the last half hour.
it's an odd film. i look forward to watching again,

That's the copy I watched. Some of the audio is a bit muffled (despite the fact this is a restored version of the film from 2017), and I think it's on Mubi (?), but I can't say if the print they have is different.

ohh. this is the film they stepped away from scream 7 to do? and melissa barrera is in it too. cool stuff.
I don't get the hype around Barrera.
She's ok nothing really stands out. I much prefer Kathryn Newton
Same, and even her in those two Scream movies, I think she was out-acted by virtually everyone. She has quite the monster-following online acting like she is the best new Scream Queen she should be bowed to. Meanwhile, I'm like "she's not even the sister I want to see Survive..."
i haven't seen that level of hype, with her. i don't think that of her. i just liked her character in scream 5 and 6. i don't like how she was booted out of the franchise, and it's nice seeing her in something else by those guys. that's all.

The quality between this and Shocker, and being so close together, really shows how far Wes could swing in quality when he gave a rat's ass lol.
He actually put a lot time and prep into Shocker, he envisioned it to be a series, film and TV. I'm not seeing that either, but he was ambitious and swinging with this one.

Which is why it's so confusing the background effort, vs the final project, because it reeks of half-ass-dom lol.
