If we don't put our foot down they're just gonna keep pushing past boundaries until we're stuck with the Barney & Friends version of Suspiria. And nobody wants that. Not even Barney.

blockbuster had the chance to put their foot down and they didn't see the profit in it. now look at them.

They couldn't compete with convenience and laziness.

late fees were a huge reason they failed. They even acknowledged that at the end too. Even before Netflix went to streaming, they were winning by no-late-fees.

Yeah. True. But at the end of the day, the vast majority would rather sit at home and buy a movie without getting up and leaving. People would pay double to be able to rent from home and not have to leave. Convenience always wins.

With convenience it was also accessibility was a huge factor too. Not everywhere had a Blockbuster nearby where you could just hop on your lil bike and ride to it, Netflix brought them to you even out in the fucking sticks. How Blockbuster didn't think to compete with that was stupid.

Hubris is what killed them, they didn't think a little pissant could touch them, but Blockbuster didn't have shit. Netflix is all "we'll offer no late-fees like those other guys, we're technologically advanced where you can look at 1,000s of titles at the click of a button in minutes, offer personalized lists based on viewing habits and tastes etc. And deliver all the exciting action right to your door. All this, for less money per rental. And hey, if a disc is lost or you just can't bear to part with the movie, we'll take it on the chin, free of charge, because we love you and you love movies." - Reed Hastings, CEO and future multi-billionaire

And then when the competition was non-existent, prices skyrocket. What a loving guy! I'm sure it costs a fortune to store a movie on a computer that you give people access to for a monthly fee.

The Bad Seed was, if I recall, based on a play, so elements definitely seem stagey, and there's a lot of talking. I also can't stand Rhoda, as a character. Her mannerism drive me up the wall.

Generally enjoy the movie though, all things considered.

Just finished They (2002). Just as generic and forgettable as I remember.

I slept on a rating for The Pope's Exorcist and decided on a 6.9. Would have been deep in the 7s if not for my inability to see the demon but rather a 10 year old kid acting scary. Rest of the movie was quite good.

Every time I went to Hollywood Video to rent horror movies I looked for this one on either VHS or DVD to see if they ever had it in stock and they never once did. The DVD was always insanely expensive and then a few years ago I got the KL Studios release on bluray.

Probably been more than 20 years I've been waiting to see this movie. Expectations are in the mid-high 5s or low 6s.

Very campy and slasher-esque. This is far exceeding my current expectations.
