yeah, alison brie and sheila vand aside, the rental was kind of a snore.DancesWithWerewolves wrote: ↑Tue Oct 08, 2024 9:31 pm The Rental was okay. Focused far too much on the lust-triangle/cheating than the creepy stalker/footage guy.
Tarot was tame, and the pace was far too quick. Like the new Salem's Lot quick where they are spending no time breathing or getting the characters developed - the bulk of the cast was no where near as likeable as they thought they were (I like Paxton though, but I find the actor a natural). Cool idea, but could've been a lot better.

I didn't think much of Sheila, though that had more to do with her constantly making assumptions and being confrontational, than the actress.zombie wrote: ↑Tue Oct 08, 2024 10:03 pmyeah, alison brie and sheila vand aside, the rental was kind of a snore.DancesWithWerewolves wrote: ↑Tue Oct 08, 2024 9:31 pm The Rental was okay. it's a case by case thing. some directors and the studios they made the film with do it and some don't. clearly ronny yu is more principled than william friedkin.Jason wrote: ↑Tue Oct 08, 2024 10:14 pmI am shocked I tell you. Was Friedkin a part of them tearing French Connection apart? I thought he had no say anymore.zombie wrote: ↑Tue Oct 08, 2024 10:21 pmit's a case by case thing. some directors and the studios they made the film with do it and some don't. clearly ronny yu is more principled than william friedkin.Jason wrote: ↑Tue Oct 08, 2024 10:14 pmI am shocked I tell you. I assume when studios or streaming services get their hands on the movie they have all the say. But I could be wrong.zombie wrote: ↑Tue Oct 08, 2024 10:24 pmthat's what i heard, but i guess it could be bs.Jason wrote: ↑Tue Oct 08, 2024 10:22 pmWas Friedkin a part of them tearing French Connection apart? I have no idea what Sting is, but yeah, I was talking about Stung. Definitely failure in the second half brah.

Re: 2024 October Challenge Discussion Thread
sting is a 2024 flick. you said sting not stung earlier. hence the confusion. so yeah, different movies and i'll avoid this one.
Re: 2024 October Challenge Discussion Thread

Re: 2024 October Challenge Discussion Thread
Whatever song Ted Raimi was listening to while cutting watermelon was pretty rad.
Re: 2024 October Challenge Discussion Thread
I'm squeezing one more in after Intruder and gonna try to get up early for the Salem's Lot/IT double feature. I skipped coffee today so I'm making two tomorrow.
Nighty night.
