i'm starting to get the sense that this is more of a drama using a little bit of ick and gore to draw in horror fans. i hope that it turns around in the last half hour.

so there is actually horror. it reminds me more than a little of a couple of my favorite films in the genre but doesn't quite come together the way that they did for me.

gauging the online reaction so far, I may be in the minority in *not* liking Terrifier 3 the best of the lot. I still think it's pretty damn good, but I didn't like it as much as 2.

And though I gave 2 a pass for the lack of nudity because it seemed like Leone was respecting Sienna as a character, I see no reason to avoid the nudity with the podcast bitch in 3. Also seems like there's 10 or so minutes missing before the final confrontation.

Seeing Jason Patrick was a pleasant surprise, even in a small role.

I think the bad reviews were mostly hung up on Hemmingway's bad acting and the laughably bad CGI transformation fx (in addition to critics just having a hate boner for horror in general). I always liked it, even with those flaws mentioned. Pare has some clunky dialogue readings too.

The director's cut version on my bluray cuts out 25 seconds of the transformation because it didn't translate well to film like they wanted. So the end when he transforms it cuts out most of it and you just kind of see the feet burst out of the shoes and things like that. Didn't look bad at all.

Such a great movie. I'm cooling off on the 9.5 a little though.

Yeah the director's cut is a lot more forgiving of that transformation. Have you seen the regular version or only the director's cut?

I only ever watched it on the theatrical version because I only had the DVD, but it's been many years. I opened the bluray for the first time and it gave me the option for either one, so I did a little research and found that the director's cut is easily the way to go, so I went with that one. Didn't disappoint.
