One improvement on the first half of It that Chapter Two does better, IMO, is the cinematography is noticeably better. There's better contrast, the dark scenes don't stay lost in muddy midtones.

Never seen Onibaba. I did decide to watch a classic Japanese movie this month - Jigoku - and it ended up being among my least-favorite watches of the month (ties with movies like Possession and Normal Violence).
Jigoku has been remade twice. The Inferno (1979) and Japanese Hell (1999), so maybe one of the other's will be more suitable to your liking.

Interesting. I heard about the late 70's movie, but not the 1990's one. I see The Inferno is listed as over two hours, so I doubt that would help, but a late 90's slice of Japanese horror could be fun.

I am getting a ton of power-outtage notice possibilities every four hours since yesterday afternoon, due to "wind", so hopefully it doesn't wind up happening.

I don't love the Puppet Master series (though I think the third movie is getting at least an average rating, if not a little higher), but the puppet effects are damn impressive.
