A lot of the stuff conservatives latch onto as being “crazy far left” with the Democrats is not even really left wing ideology, it’s “progressive” academia-centered identity politics. A lot of actual left wing policy is broadly popular with Americans but they never lean into it. The Democrats are this untenable combo of neoliberal economic policy that doesn’t help the working class voters they should be targeting + identity politics that pisses off the majority of voters. They would actually be better off as a true left wing political party at this point. Moving to the right never helps them.

Honestly, the biggest mistake the Dems made, was not kneecapping Kamala, either Tonya Harding style or shooting her right in the joint. After the assassination attempt on Trump, all the average redneck American had in their head was that and Trump's fight fight fight image. You had to top it and Harris wasn't willing to take one for her country, obviously, so here we are. Selfish really.

I really hope Trump gets to implement his policies unfettered and with no opposition. Possibly with the exception of on climate change where 4 years might finally doom us all. But everything else I hope is railroaded into place.

Blocking free speech because it's not what you want to hear is unacceptable. These are things that turn the average person off
