Re: Trumpster Fire 2025
Not weird at all.
Re: Trumpster Fire 2025
maybe people were apathetic toward harris replacing biden? maybe they didn't like harris' policies? maybe they didn't like the way she campaigned. there are lots of reasons. why make it into a conspiracy, when it doesn't need to be?
Re: Trumpster Fire 2025
It makes itself into a conspiracy. The 3AM Democrat ballot fairy showed up in 2020.

Re: Trumpster Fire 2025
if he had won 2020, he would likely have to deal with ukraine, with palestine, with bringing the troops home. those things were bad for dems. if he won, his supporters would not have crashed at the white house. all of that helped make him more popular to his crowd. would you rather him win 3030 or win 2024?
also, we may never have gotten the great year for horror that we got. with him as president. also, also it makes him special at least in our life times. as two terms not back to back. he's all about setting himself apart, so yeah.

None of us, Trump included will be here in 3030 lolzombie wrote: ↑Thu Nov 21, 2024 6:45 pm if he had won 2020, he would likely have to deal with ukraine, with palestine, with bringing the troops home. those things were bad for dems. if he won, his supporters would not have crashed at the white house. all of that helped make him more popular to his crowd. would you rather him win 3030 or win 2024?

Also I'm not sure why you would think Trump being in the White House would mean less Horror films.
Russia is weak. They won't take Ukraine, they've been over there, fighting a war of attrition for over 2 years now and have gotten nowhere. It will be an embarrassment just like Soviet-Afghan War. Hell, this might even be a bigger embarrassment. They're so desperate they need help from a little bitch country like North Korea. lol
Putin is a wannabe and when he looses this war his enablers will quickly start turning on him.

Re: Trumpster Fire 2025
i don't think trump in office means less horror films. i think if he won the last election, it may have meant not the quality of the specific films released this year. that's all.
Re: Trumpster Fire 2025
I'm curious, why do you feel the quality of the recent films would be less if Trump had won in 2020?

Re: Trumpster Fire 2025
it's likely that different concerns and fears would have led to different horror films being produced and released instead, into the fourth year. he may also have butchered disney. so no first omen. booo to that. this is a silly convo.
Re: Trumpster Fire 2025
I don't believe there would have been much of a difference. Films like Barbarian and Cobweb (as examples) would have not been any different but we might have had a few films emerge with themes related to MAGA politics, maybe.
As for him butchering Disney that makes no sense. The POTUS does not have the power to break up a company (publicly traded or not). Only the U.S. Court system has that power and only if the company is proven to be a monopoly (i.e. Standard Oil Company in 1911 and AT&T's Bell system in 1982) or involved in some illegal activity (i.e. Enron and Theranos). MAGA may hate Disney and any company they view as "woke" but good luck breaking them apart because none of them are monopolies or involved illegal activities (as far as i am aware).
I don't see this as a silly convo but cool.

I get the feeling Laz does not prescribe to the notion that artists and filmmakers craft and mold their stories based on current events, politics and what ails the world and themselves at the given time.

What have I said here that gave you this impression?Reign in Blood wrote: ↑Fri Nov 22, 2024 9:16 am I get the feeling Laz does not prescribe to the notion that artists and filmmakers craft and mold their stories based on current events, politics and what ails the world and themselves at the given time.
All Z was saying is if Trump got reelected we wouldn't have had some of the movies we've gotten in recent years and while that might be the case for some I do not feel there would have been too much of a difference in tone or otherwise with horror films over the last 4 years. Not once have I ever said films makers works are not inspired by current events.
I was more interested in him implying Trump would breakup Disney.

i think some would have been made regardless. cause we're still america. a lot of the fears and concerns would translate year to year. i'm not the biggest fan of barbarian and don't think i've seen cobweb.Lazerus wrote: ↑Fri Nov 22, 2024 9:15 amI don't believe there would have been much of a difference. the trio of desantis, musk, and trump would have found a way to seriously hinder disney, if they had their ways. they are almost a monopoly as it is, so that could be a way in to their destruction. you could be right though.
silly, only in the sense that it is all hypothetical and i don't want anyone to jump on me as if it's my actual thoughts on any actual position or problem.

That you're questioning it. What zombs is round about saying is, thank fuck Trump didn't get re-elected because then we would have been given nothing but more Jordan Peele-style toilet stains, instead we actually got some decent friggin horror films this year.Lazerus wrote: ↑Fri Nov 22, 2024 9:21 amWhat have I said here that gave you this impression?Reign in Blood wrote: ↑Fri Nov 22, 2024 9:16 am I get the feeling Laz does not prescribe to the notion that artists and filmmakers craft and mold their stories based on current events, politics and what ails the world and themselves at the given time.

Re: Trumpster Fire 2025
I get what you're saying btu Disney is a huge media conglomerate that makes a tone of money for it's shareholders and many of those shareholders are Trump's backers. So trust when I say they don't want to loose on their investment. DeSantis is a funking idiot, Elon has better things to do than waste money on fighting Disney. I mean anything is possible of course but I just don't see it happening.zombie wrote: ↑Fri Nov 22, 2024 9:24 ami think some would have been made regardless. cause we're still america. a lot of the fears and concerns would translate year to year. i'm not the biggest fan of barbarian and don't think i've seen cobweb.Lazerus wrote: ↑Fri Nov 22, 2024 9:15 amI don't believe there would have been much of a difference. if jason does want to jump on this convo, i still would like to know if he would prefer a win in 2020 or now?
Re: Trumpster Fire 2025
The horror genre hasn't seen what I would consider a great run in decades. I mean we had some decent films here and there in the 2000's but majority of horror from that decade was remakes. The 2010's had some hits here and there but nothing much was memorable for me and so far this decade has only produced a few that I consider worthy of my collection. As a fan yourself I would like to hear your thoughts on this. What is your opinion of Horror movies from the 2000's & 2010's compared to what the 2020's have produced so far?Reign in Blood wrote: ↑Fri Nov 22, 2024 9:28 amThat you're questioning it. As to your earlier statement, yes I do prescribe to the notion that artist mold their works to current events and personal experiences. All the stories I have written have in one way or another been inspired by real life issues I have experienced in my years and external current events. All I was trying to say here was I don't feel it would have been much different given that recent horror films have not overly impressed me with the exception of a few. But i could be wrong, it's all hypothetical anyway.

Lol, he should say easily now. Libs fucked up so bad he now has way more power than he ever would have in 2020, not just the trifecta, but his cult of personality. The greatest mixed martial artists the world has ever seen gave Trump his world title, and he's black. Ya know the ones the Libs have spent how much time, money and energy convincing them to hate each other. You love to see the unity finally.
