If someone tells me their pronouns I’m not going to go out of my way to antagonize them by not respecting that. It’s just not a big deal.

This. It's like how alot of people go by a nickname instead of their legal name, myself included. If someone says "call me John", I'm not gonna call them Steve because I don't like the name John.

No sympathy for Assad but I love the western media celebrating Syria’s revolutionaries as the country is about to be a brutal Islamic State destined for another decade-plus of chaos and war.

I'm not well-read on Assad (though I don't remotely trust the claims of chemical weapon attacks), but I know plenty of people online mourning the end of his reign, and in my experience, if the USA is happy about something, the wrong side won.

Assad was objectively very bad. But a Syria run by former Al-Qaeda and ISIS militants is going to be a nightmare. Unlikely any stable government takes root there.

It was a great outcome for the US and Israel because it weakens the Iran/Hezbollah bloc in the Middle East and they will get to play sides in the new civil conflict off each other. Chaos in Syria benefits the West.

So I think this exposes some of the moral hypocrisy of the left. They will decry any authoritarian regimes supported by the US (as they should) but if those authoritarian regimes are in opposition to American interests, their tyranny is supposed to represent some greater good while ignoring the effects on the people they rule. Assad was no champion of the people. His regime is not worth mourning. What comes next won’t be worth celebrating either. Similar deal to our our interventions in Iraq and Libya.

I bought a book some time ago that I've not yet taken the time to read - Washington's Long War on Syria by Stephen Gowans - which I would want to delve into before making any judgments toward Assad. Like I said, I'm not well-read on the topic, so I'd want to read that before coming to any conclusions.
