I said the same thing when I found out I was older than Jason. His love of old shit pre-dates dirt. I was like I'll be god damned. :P
Bob Uecker and David Lynch die on the same day. You guys all go around having David Lynch marathons while I listen to Bob Uecker MLB broadcasts on the radio.

So Bill did kill his wife and to deal with it he created Balthazar Getty in his mind. He is locked up on death row in reality and in the last scene he gets electrocuted in the chair. He wants to be the Balthazar character in his imagination but he really is the Robert Blake guy. Thoughts
:!: :!: :!: still spoilers. don't read! :!: :!: :!:

i think it's something else. the police mention finding getty's character's fingerprints. and mention bill pullmn's character by name in the same scene, in a scene where neither bill pullman or balthazar getty is present. i don't know what it is for sure, but doesn't feel like it's just a way to cope with his guilt to me. unless you take the whole movie to be him "remembering things the way he wants to, and not necessarily the way they actually happen". but then the murder may not have even happened by that logic. who was showing him the tapes in the first place? i really like it, but i don't really get it at the same time. :P

I think this is all right. I also think that almost nothing that happens in this movie actually occurs outside of the murder and his time in prison, everything is just “the way he wants to remember things” with Robert Blake showing up to represent his conscience and the videotapes are these inescapable reminders of what he did. And then the second half is his weird fantasy of being Balthazar.

if you take the "nothing in the film actually happened" thing, you can draw that line anywhere you want to, arbitrarily. :P

Okay well I am open to hearing your theories. I thought “I like to remember things my own way, not necessarily the way they happened” was pretty informative.

It looks like he killed her in reality because he thought she was cheating on him that's why in his imagination she's always doing something dirty or sexual like cheating, filming porn, leading him down the wrong road.

i think the admission does matter. but if it is all meant to be in his head, i want to know why he thought up those things specifically. the movie happened the way it did for a reason, whether it was all in his head or certain parts of it were. why start the film with something that connected to the end of the movie? what if the murder he is in jail for was the one we learn about that is referenced at the start? i want to make sense of the film more than just it was all in his head, that's all.

Also is Loggia being powerful and vindictive another manifestation of his personality?
