If someone tells me their pronouns I’m not going to go out of my way to antagonize them by not respecting that. It’s just not a big deal.

This. It's like how alot of people go by a nickname instead of their legal name, myself included. If someone says "call me John", I'm not gonna call them Steve because I don't like the name John.Headhunter wrote: ↑Fri Dec 06, 2024 10:14 pm If someone tells me their pronouns I’m not going to go out of my way to antagonize them by not respecting that. No sympathy for Assad but I love the western media celebrating Syria’s revolutionaries as the country is about to be a brutal Islamic State destined for another decade-plus of chaos and war.

Re: Jiggy's Political Corner
I'm not well-read on Assad (though I don't remotely trust the claims of chemical weapon attacks), but I know plenty of people online mourning the end of his reign, and in my experience, if the USA is happy about something, the wrong side won.

Re: Jiggy's Political Corner
Assad was objectively very bad. But a Syria run by former Al-Qaeda and ISIS militants is going to be a nightmare. Unlikely any stable government takes root there.
It was a great outcome for the US and Israel because it weakens the Iran/Hezbollah bloc in the Middle East and they will get to play sides in the new civil conflict off each other. Chaos in Syria benefits the West.

Re: Jiggy's Political Corner
So I think this exposes some of the moral hypocrisy of the left. They will decry any authoritarian regimes supported by the US (as they should) but if those authoritarian regimes are in opposition to American interests, their tyranny is supposed to represent some greater good while ignoring the effects on the people they rule. Assad was no champion of the people. His regime is not worth mourning. What comes next won’t be worth celebrating either. Similar deal to our our interventions in Iraq and Libya.

Re: Jiggy's Political Corner
I bought a book some time ago that I've not yet taken the time to read - Washington's Long War on Syria by Stephen Gowans - which I would want to delve into before making any judgments toward Assad. Like I said, I'm not well-read on the topic, so I'd want to read that before coming to any conclusions.

Re: Jiggy's Political Corner
Logged onto my personal Twitter for the first time since the election.
Seems that some liberals are blaming third party voters for Harris' loss, despite that fact that there's not a single state in which if you combined the vote totals of Jill Stein, Claudia De la Cruz, Cornel West, Joseph Kishore, and Bill Stodden and give them to Harris would Harris win.
Liberals are utterly intolerable. Hopefully under this Trump presidency, they can radicalize into actual leftists, but I don't have much hope.

Most Harris supporters aren't remotely anti-capitalist. In fact, they went after leftists like myself throughout the whole of Biden and Harris' campaigns. Look at how they attacked third party candidates and voters - they've done the same thing again and again (when I refused to vote for Clinton back in 2016, I was skewered online by these people).
Harris supporters generally supported Trans rights, and the LGBT+ community, and perhaps BLM, but once a leftist calls out Harris' support of Israel's genocide, they get shot down.
There might have been a few leftists voting for Harris under the foolish notion of "harm reduction" (a theory I very much reject), but most voted for appropiate candidates (Jill Stein, Joseph Kishore, Bill Stodden, and Claudia De la Cruz, and to a lesser extent, Cornel West) or didn't vote at all.
It's also worth mentioning that plenty of leftists don't believe in electoralism at all, so never would have participated in voting in the first place.

I would argue that letting someone possess 50 million dollars and three yatchs while people are having trouble feeding their kids is batshit, so I'm not sure how useful a definition "batshit" isReign in Blood wrote: ↑Thu Feb 06, 2025 5:18 amIn a word, Batshit.Lazerus wrote: ↑Wed Feb 05, 2025 9:00 amWhat do you mean by "actual leftists"?Jigsaw wrote: ↑Wed Jan 29, 2025 12:44 pm Logged onto my personal Twitter for the first time since the election.

As someone who was once homeless and completely broke living in a fucking car (that didn't run), i understand people's anger and frustration. But I also pulled myself out of that life, built up my skills to make more money and eventually got the to point of owning my own businesses and made a better life for myself. Nobody helped me! and If a fucking asshole like me can do it then anyone can!
And while I do agree with some of Jiggy's criticism of the system, especially where Healthcare is concerned. I do not support these anti-capitalist and their (as Reign said) batshit crazy ideas.
Jiggy, how is someone struggling to feed their children my problem? I didn't create those kids! Therefore they are not my financial responsibility!
Life is not fair and it's not meant to be. While I can understand how that sounds harsh it's just the truth of the world we all live in.

So your solution is to let kids die while we have the biggest military budget in the world?Lazerus wrote: ↑Thu Feb 06, 2025 10:43 am Jiggy, how is someone struggling to feed their children my problem? I didn't create those kids! Therefore they are not my financial responsibility!

I know that under this shit capitalist country, life isn't fair - there is absolutely no reason why we shouldn't strive to make it as fair as possible, though.
So I will continue to fight against capitalism and this shit-hole country and the shit-hole GOP and Democrats who run it.
I can't make you care about social responsibility. You do you. I'll continue to do as I see fit.

Jiggy wants you back in that broken down fucking car, while Moesha and Emilia Perez crap out baby #12 on your dime. These children will undoubtedly go on to be shining pillars of society, so take solace in that.Lazerus wrote: ↑Thu Feb 06, 2025 10:43 am As someone who was once homeless and completely broke living in a fucking car (that didn't run), i understand people's anger and frustration. Capitalism is what led him to that situation, so acting like socialism would somehow lead to the same place is ridiculous.
Where the fuck did I say that I'll take his money and give it to families with twelve children?
Before we increase taxes on the wealthy (which we obviously should do), we can cut the military budget and other government organizations (such as the aid we give to the genocidal country of Israel). None of which would require a cent from anyone on this website, unless someone here has billions I don't know about.

I don't like the country anymore than you do but I do what I must so I could live the life I want to live. If my "status" offends you then that's too damn bad. I work my fucking ass off for what I have.
Capitalism isn't going anywhere in the foreseeable future if at all but good luck kid!

why is there this need to make it personal all the time? you're not the problem that jig was arguing against, why try to force yourself into that position?
