My next area of brief pointless historical inquiry:

What happened to the Freemasons? They were a recognized institution in the USA for almost 200 years.

"we must never let ourselves be divided by race or color or religion..." doesn't seem like a bad message at all. conservative and liberal leadership and news media seems to be about dividing right now. see racism or bigotry or oppression, call it out for what it is. unamerican.

The news media's entire game is division, that's why it's so funny to me when people complain about their political leanings. They are the very ones framing the issues conservatives argue defiantly on one side of, liberals the other. If they can get a perfect 50/50 split on an issue with loud opposition on both sides, that is a job well done and good business for them. Of course race plays better than anything, it's the story of America.
