You can just admit the change is at least in part a product of the political environment. It's pretty obvious a lot has changed about political discourse in the past two years, both in this country and around the world. Seems more reasonable than insisting this is how you always used to post in this forum, which I don't believe to be the case.

Exactly. I can talk macro business and companies but not running a business or food. I love talking big picture politics, but I find there’s not much appetite for that sort of thing. And we seem to never find any common ground which seems impossible in any other political climate but the US.

Exactly. I can talk macro business and companies but not running a business or food. I love talking big picture politics, but I find there’s not much appetite for that sort of thing. And we seem to never find any common ground which seems impossible in any other political climate but the US.

There doesn't even need to be common ground though. Seems like a big leap to go from neither side giving an inch to just trolling. I mean how do you reconcile threads like this or "CNN says hurricane names are sexist" etc. There's no discussion to be had.

Lots of life changes. Horror and sports were largely replaced with my business, my fiance, and my aunt. I try to keep up on politics, and people will engage me a little bit on it, versus the other things, so that is what it boils down to.

Happy to talk about other things, and I think I would appear as a more rounded person, but it has to be more than just me.

It was never going to be as horror-centric as it originally was when we were all younger. I've probably been the worst with keeping up with the essence of what this place is supposed to be about. Haven't even participated in a Challenge in years.

As a society, we're addicted to arguing about two things: politics and sports. The sports section has thinned out, we all talk less horror and politics is everything wherever you go. This is all kind of beside my point though.

I am a feminist, a socialist, a Black Lives Matter ally, a pro-LGBT+ individual, etc., and nothing posted here has changed my mind on any of that. Arguing with Jason, Foo, or any other conservatives just wastes time, as I see it. I have strong, leftist politics almost across the board, but talking about them here just doesn't seem to accomplish anything productive, and I have better venues for political discussion than with a bunch of pro-Trump individuals.
