The October Challenge Discussion Thread: 2017
FRIDAY THE 13TH
This series goes deep as hell, bros. Subtle hints at shit. One of many reasons why it's my favorite movie franchise of all time.

FRIDAY THE 13TH
I really admire the character depth in just about every movie in this franchise. In the first, Ned might be my favorite, or possibly most intriguing. The totally quirky, nerdy comedian who makes every character in the movie laugh, but the brief moment we see him alone, his shoulders are sunk as he gazes at Jack and Marcie, and he trots along slowly, kicking dirt and whistling to himself. Poor ol' Neddy is a lonely soul.
Marcie's lifelong fear of thunderstorms that turns into the foreshadowing of the entire movie.
This franchise is a complete and total Ace.

I just started Murder By the Clock, and (sadly, lol) my first thought at the beginning of the movie was...it's bigger on the inside!! I have a strange sense of humor...sigh.

1931? That's sadly a forgotten classic. One of the best horror flicks of the 1930's, and yet few I know have seen it.flyingspider wrote:I just started Murder By the Clock, and (sadly, lol) my first thought at the beginning of the movie was...it's bigger on the inside!! It was at least good for a couple of those, yes, but that is about it.Monster wrote:Did it have any redeeming qualities? A title like that sounds sounds like it'd be good for a laugh.flyingspider wrote:Attack of the Killer Donuts..yes I watched it..am I proud..no..now to get back to serious movie watching.

Started Embrace the Darkness (1999).
Can't tell if it's a horror movie or a really sensual porno.![Tongue :P](./images/smilies/icon_tongue.gif)

You know what, if you do end up liking that movie, I'd give Secret of the Blue Room (1933) a shot, if you can find it. I know it used to be on YouTube. Not sure if it still is.flyingspider wrote:So far, so good...more comments later.Jigsaw wrote:1931? That's sadly a forgotten classic. Another solid, sadly forgotten, 30's flick.

Onto The Warning (2015). The first of what will be two found footage movies today.
And by the way, Embrace the Darkness was terrible. Can't say I really want to see the two sequels, but I suppose I will eventually.

Tiffany Joy Williams is pretty cute in this movie. That said, the main actress has the bitchy act down real well, so she I can do without.

The Warning was, at the very least, passable.
Until the last four minutes, that is. Now it's far below average.

Up next, one of the few well-known horror flicks I've yet to see (as far as the 1970's and 1980's go), The Serpent and the Rainbow.

I recognize the actor Zakes Mokae from an episode of The West Wing, which is sort of fun.Jigsaw wrote:Up next, one of the few well-known horror flicks I've yet to see (as far as the 1970's and 1980's go), The Serpent and the Rainbow.

I'm getting a Wicker Man vibe from The Serpent and the Rainbow thus far. Maybe I'll be in for a fantastically fun ending yet.

Jason Takes Manhattan.
Saving 4-6 when I'm getting ready for a halloween party (going as Jason), and I don't wanna double dip movies.

The Devil's Candy was fantastically tense. One of the most tense movies I've seen this month. Very well done.
