Re: NFL 2017 season
I'd really like to beat the shit out of that cunt John Elway with a baseball bat. Is that too much to ask?

Sandy Clough, who is the most respected Broncos radio guy in Denver, says everyone around the NFL hates Elway and all the players want out.
No surprise there.

Good lord. How did this happen so quickly? The dude was just bargaining for chunks of team ownership this summer.Headhunter wrote:Sandy Clough, who is the most respected Broncos radio guy in Denver, says everyone around the NFL hates Elway and all the players want out.

The chickens have come home to roost. He bet big on a village idiot to coach the team, invested in three terrible quarterbacks and his Day 2 draft busts caught up with him. Not sure which franchise is in worse position than Denver going forward, they basically have drunk Matt Millen running the show and haven't drafted a Pro Bowler since 2011.Foo wrote:Good lord. As an outsider, it is just shocking how they have given up. I get that he apparently missed on a high QB pick and the coach is iffy, but I was not expecting this. Have also wondered why they did not go after Kyle Shanahan.Headhunter wrote:The chickens have come home to roost. Also, Vance Joseph was frat bros with our college scouting director Matt Russell, who is not only a known alcoholic, but aldo a holdover from the McDaniels era and a proven terrible talent evaluator. It's the good ol boys club in Denver and Elway will stay loyal to anyone who can pound shots with him. Makes me sick.

Re: NFL 2017 season
They did. It was between Lil Shanny, Village Idiot Vance and Dave Toub, who was the special teams coordinator for all those years in Chicago. Most of us wanted Lil Shanny given the offense was what needed to be fixed, instead Elway went with "his guy".Foo wrote:As an outsider, it is just shocking how they have given up. Interesting note: Elway tried to hire Vance as DC in 2015 after firing Del Rio, but Cincy wouldn't allow him to interview so he "settled" for Wade Phillips, whose defense was the reason the Broncos won a Super Bowl.

Re: NFL 2017 season
I don't know how much it played into the decision but Elway and Mike Shanahan haven't been on good terms in at least 15 years. Mike denied Elway the chance to join the front office before he invested in the arena team. Elway cheating on his ex-wife was also a point of contention because the Shanahans were close with her.
Elway has burned a lot of bridges across the league and he has a tendency to shoot from the hip with his decisions.

Re: NFL 2017 season
I can't remember a season of more destructive QB play. It's just a comedy of errors every week. Osweiler really wasn't that bad, relatively speaking.Foo wrote:"Broncos fans thought Paxton Lynch was bad against the Oakland Raiders. Captain Derp said, “hold my beer.” "

Re: NFL 2017 season
He will most likely end up a Jaguar but Eli might be a good fit in Denver since they need to win now before that defense breaks up.

Not sure how Eli elevates a shitty offense. He's washed.

Re: NFL 2017 season
Improve the line with the draft and a few free agents. Eli is playing better than Payton was when you won it all.Headhunter wrote:Not sure how Eli elevates a shitty offense. He's washed.
Re: NFL 2017 season
There is also a strong possibility the defense is in decline. I would not be patchworking a team hoping a defense suddenly returns to form of years ago.

Re: NFL 2017 season
The defense was other-worldly in 2015. Not gonna replicate that with no DeMarcus Ware, Malik Jackson, T.J. Ward etc.Tiggnutz wrote:Improve the line with the draft and a few free agents. Yup, can't stay on top forever. You also can't live in the past and be sentimental about former glory. This requires moves like firing John Elway, who will keep the Broncos bad for a decade.
