He is already the undisputed slowest player on baseball:

And the all-time leader in double plays grounded into. His baserunning has become so unbelievably and comically bad, it is tough to imagine where this goes. Since he was a rookie, rumors have swirled about his true age.
Albert Pujols still has 4 years and $110 Million remaining

The chickens have come to roost for the entire league in this sense. Steroid era over = players age normally.
Not removing until John Elway is fired.

Pujols knows his role. Swing for the fences, fuck running, get Calhoun and Trout home.
For 28 mil a year? Why the fuck not? Baseball contracts are insane.

Well, that is literally all he can do at this point, so it is not like I want to rip him personally for it as it is not lack of effort or intelligence.Jason wrote:Pujols knows his role. Swing for the fences, fuck running, get Calhoun and Trout home.

It is just interesting. A guy who is totally cooked coming off a year where he was -2 wins above replacement. It would be like going out tomorrow and giving Ryan Howard $110 million to be your first baseman for the next four years.
The Angels have a ten year $10m personal services contract that kicks in after Pujols playing contract is over, so I am not sure how a release would even work. One would assume he has a magic career ending injury soon to get everyone off the hook.

Indeed. I like advanced stats. When I was like ten years old, I used to ask for Bill James books for Christmas. I don't like some of the sabermetrics they used to use, but things have come a long way.Headhunter wrote:Uh oh, I spot a WAR reference!

Oh I love WAR. The last frontier was contract negotiations, now it's everywhere in the game. My favorite thing about baseball has always been the way you can quantify damn near everything through numbers.Foo wrote:Indeed. I like advanced stats. I remember always debating my friend about Vince Coleman vs. Brett Butler. This dude was in love with Coleman because of the steals and I could never get him to understand nuances beyond the counting stats.

Don't get me started on WAR nonsense.
