Re: NFL 2017 season
Brees is a top 10 QB and Siemian will be a backup somewhere next year even his own teammates cant see his talent and are campaigning for the team to sign a new starting QB.
Re: NFL 2017 season
No QB ever throws 4,000 yards behind that line. Not one.Jmac Attack wrote:And I bet Brees throws for over 4500 yards with the Broncos. Shitty line or not. Siemian has some qualities I like, but come on man......I'd take Andy Dalton all goddamn day over him. Yes, your line is shitty. That does factor in. But that doesn't mean that Semen is your answer.Jason wrote:BTW, Drew Brees wants to stay in New Orleans, but if he slips away Denver would likely be the front runner.
Brees is the only free agent QB I'd take over Siemian. The issue is 100% the offensive line, not the QB.
Re: NFL 2017 season
The team actually campaigned for Vance Joseph to not be fired. How wrong are they there? LulzTiggnutz wrote:Brees is a top 10 QB and Siemian will be a backup somewhere next year even his own teammates cant see his talent and are campaigning for the team to sign a new starting QB.
Re: NFL 2017 season
I just looked it up and the Broncos threw over 3,300 yards behind it last year. Tacking on 40 yards a game is nothing with a QB upgrade and a desire to throw a little more. Plenty of bad lines have featured 4,000 yard passers.Jason wrote:No QB ever throws 4,000 yards behind that line. Not one.Jmac Attack wrote:And I bet Brees throws for over 4500 yards with the Broncos. Re: NFL 2017 season
I'll say it again, you don't know how good your line is without a competent QB and playcalling. Picking up blitzes and stunts, getting the ball out in time, and how you avoid pocket pressure will make any Line look good or bad.
Rollouts, a good screen game, the QB stepping up in the pocket properly, and getting rid of the ball on time makes bad lineman look good. No offensive tackle has a chance against a good DE when a QB drifts into the pressure. He is blocking a guy who is 75 pounds or more lighter and faster and can see where the target is. League wide, I would bet at least 50 percent of sacks are the fault of the QB.

Re: NFL 2017 season
You should watch a Denver game. They are incapable of picking up blitzes. When defenses rush 3, two guys instantly get through, anyway. It is unbelievably god awful. Every single QB we had on the roster got hurt last year thanks to the o-line.Foo wrote:I'll say it again, you don't know how good your line is without a competent QB and playcalling. Re: NFL 2017 season
Our QBs don't have time to do a basic five step drop, and you're asking him to abandon that and step up in the pocket? But what happens when the DTs ram through the A and B gaps like they do in Denver?Foo wrote: Rollouts, a good screen game, the QB stepping up in the pocket properly, and getting rid of the ball on time makes bad lineman look good. Re: NFL 2017 season
Check out a Denver game from last year, and just focus on the o-line in passing situations. They are one of the all time worst, and I'm not joking about this.Jmac Attack wrote:Damn, dude...... I would like to think I know football. Harsh bro.Jason wrote:Apparently I'm the only person in these forums that either A) watches football. Or B) has the capability of evaluating talent. Review game tape of any one of Siemian's starts. An alarming number of drop backs result in a sack before he even finishes the basic five step drop. I don't care what phony numbers the stat sheet comes up with, no team in the entire NFL had an offensive line issue like that besides Denver. And yet, we blame the quarterback. Really bizarre trend. Sports media warps the perception.Headhunter wrote:Cousins is in the top 12-15 QB range. Siemian is an average backup at best, somewhere in the 40s-low 50s. Cousins played behind a worse offensive line this year and still had a solid season. Siemian would suck behind every offensive line in the NFL because he's a bad quarterback. Watch how much better the OL looks when they don't have that bum constantly drifting back into edge rushers' arcs instead of stepping up.Jason wrote:Kirk and Splooge are similar QBs. Only difference is Splooge is getting paid 600,000 a year. Both are definitely solid. If Kirk is the new guy, he better prepare for Sack City if Denver doesn't totally reboot the line.Headhunter wrote:Buckle up for Kirk Cousins to Denver, folks. Somehow, the Broncos have convinced themselves that they are a QB away, even though they have virtually no young talent, their stars are aging, and the offense is gross.
John Elway is the worst.
Talib and Thomas are gone.
Talib, Sanders and CJ. Thomas will be back on a restructured contract.

Jason just blatantly making shit up lmao and then trying to put an elitist spin on his own insanity. Siemian is terrible and every player on that team can't wait to get rid of him.
Guys, do yourselves a favor and don't listen to Jason's gross exaggerations about the pass pro. It wasn't good but Siemian made them look a lot worse all the time and Hall of Fame QBs have produced behind shittier lines.

Re: NFL 2017 season
Osweiler never got hurt. Paxton got hurt rolling out. Siemian got hurt drifting out of the pocket. Both injuries on the QB. For someone who keeps boasting about how he's the only one who understands what he's watching, you seemingly don't have a clue how to evaluate causes of sacks on a given play, I recall correcting you multiple times this year. Which is fine, almost no casual fans get that stuff.Jason wrote:You should watch a Denver game. They are incapable of picking up blitzes. When defenses rush 3, two guys instantly get through, anyway. My bad, I forgot Siemian also hurt his shoulder chasing down Janoris Jenkins on a pick six thrown from an absolutely clean pocket.

Even your horse-faced hero who can do no wrong said getting a QB is by far the #1 priority for Denver this offseason.Jason wrote:The team actually campaigned for Vance Joseph to not be fired. Yeah, don't listen to the liar who is challenging people to take one Denver game last year and observe the o-line for themselves.Headhunter wrote:Jason just blatantly making shit up lmao and then trying to put an elitist spin on his own insanity. Your own eyes are better than any stat sheet. This is one of the worst lines I have ever seen. Top five, for sure. You can have the exact same crumble from the o-line on three consecutive plays. A QB holding onto the ball for a sack, a QB getting rid of it, or a QB miraculously completeing a pass is going to yield different statistical results for each play, even if the line equally sucked on all three.
Stats are for novice football watchers and people who don't even watch football.

And then they stay in the pocket and get Theismann'd or they try to throw it away and get strip sacked, to which you blame them for not stepping up enough or rolling out anyway. You will always blame the QB for everything, because it's the easiest thing to do.Headhunter wrote:Osweiler never got hurt. Paxton got hurt rolling out. Siemian got hurt drifting out of the pocket. Re: NFL 2017 season
Yes, when the free rushers are coming off the edge, you step up out of their arc to give yourself both room to throw and the body position to deliver a throw with enough velocity. That's quarterbacking 101 and your boy Siemian fails miserably at it.Jason wrote:And then they stay in the pocket and get Theismann'd or they try to throw it away and get strip sacked, to which you blame them for not stepping up enough or rolling out anyway. No, not "always". Just in the cases that you don't properly attribute blame because you don't understand the nuances of playing in the pocket as a QB.

I can watch every snap from 3-4 different angles any time I want, watch every sack Siemian took in 20 minutes if I wanted. Nobody is talking about stats, you're the one bringing up numbers. That you bring up "numbers" reveals your own insecurity in your beliefs here. Siemian made the offensive line look worse constantly. You just don't understand that QBs have to compensate for OL's athletic disadvantages, even QBs with the best lines. That's part of being a quarterback. You've watched football long enough to know this...

Re: NFL 2017 season
Lol, you act as though its only the tackles who are botching the line. The A and B gaps are getting penetrated more by inside linebackers and defensive tackles than Jenna Jameson in her prime. QBs behind this line work miracles to buy enough time to actually look for a receiver. It's insane.Headhunter wrote:Yes, when the free rushers are coming off the edge, you step up out of their arc to give yourself both room to throw and the body position to deliver a throw with enough velocity. Ok
Bruh... listen... nobody is disputing that offensive linemen have an athletic disadvantage against edge rushers, but they RARELY even make contact with them coming around the edge. It's not like our linemen are just losing the athleticism battle, they are getting RUN OVER or completely missing altogether. This isn't an "ah, damn. Homie beat me around the edge, I'll get him next time". It's "damn, homie beat me around the edge!" "damn, homie beat me around the edge!" "damn! Homie ran my fuckin ass over." "Damn! I don't know what I'm supposed to do with my hands!" "Damn, that was a good ass breakfast this morning! I think I'll get 6 more helpings of that after the game. Oh, shit. Did we just snap the ball? My bad Trevor. I'll get him next time".
I am only barely exaggerating, btw.
Re: NFL 2017 season
The only people who know for sure is the coaches and players, because they understand responsibilities on a given play. I see enough NFL news to know the Broncos seem to believe they have problems at QB.
Re: NFL 2017 season
Ryan Leaf went #2 overall.
The Chargers released Drew Brees.
The Raiders traded Jon Gruden.
Maybe nobody knows anything for sure.
