- if someone says to give them your car, must you hand it over?
- if someone tries to grab your wallet, can you hang on to it?
- if someone tried to take your child, must you allow them?
no, to all three. i would have reason to keep him from taking my car, my wallet, and my child. if he was unarmed and i shot him, i would also have reason to be punished for all, but possibly him trying to take my child (or sibling / family member, as i don't have any children)
When you resist, are you not escalating the potential of violence? If your resistance of theft leads to an escalation that ends up with the thief dead, is it your fault?
Yes. If you pull a gun and shoot someone then You are at fault and must face the consequences.

i think that's a heat of the moment thing. i would feel justified in resisting. if i shot and killed him and it turned out that he was unarmed, i would feel guilty. i would want to be punished. i would probably find a way to punish myself. i don't expect others to feel that way, but you asked my opinion and my viewpoint.

I would reward myself with a beautiful medium rare ribeye. I would feel worse about accidentally stepping on a cockroach.
What if in the struggle you snapped his neck and he died, no weapons involved. Just two dudes fighting over your wallet. Would you feel like you should be punished?

What if there is no gun and he dies in the struggle?

just one more of many differences between us.
yes. certainly over a wallet. if i snapped his neck, during a struggle to keep him from kidnapping a loved one. i might not feel like i deserve to be punished.

The cockroach might be innocent.
i don't know what that has to do with anything i just posted?
the "cockroach" is the guy that got shot? innocent of what? he did shoplift as far as i understand it?

Sounds murky as it implies both people were fighting. Not that one cold blooded thug chased down and murdered someone.

I saw something the other day about how murders in London have actually exceeded the rate in New York City fir the first time.
Not that im aware. But not disputing it either. NYC is cleaning up bigly these days. I’m not aware of a high rate of Murder here though. Doesn’t feel unsafe that’s for sure.

I hear violent crime is down across the country and that's great but let me tell you that is of little comfort for alot of Americans such as myself. Baltimore has 86 murders this year and 25 so far in April and when it starts getting warmer these atrocious numbers will skyrocket. Right now there is a gang of teens running around the city with hatchets robbing and assaulting people. There is zero fear of authority or repercussions right now. I don't know what else to say but we need help someone needs to step in and help.

Good men need to take the streets back without fear of being made the villain. Start painting some walls with their brains and it will stop.

That will only land good people in prison Baltimore is set up to protect criminals not the innocent. Johns Hopkins one of the most respected medical facilities on Earth wanted to hire their own police force on their dime and it was shot down because the city council thought it would be bad for minorities to have more cops. Baltimore is 82% African American who's the minority. This is what happens when the hunger for power overrides common sense. My city is dying and I don't see it getting better I pray for the day I can leave this place and never look back.

Yup. Shame.
Amazing what is being glorified and pushed by the media, also. Racial division, non-stop.
