Basically, the black community went from rap music and basketball to lawsuits and victimization as means to achieve life goals. Imagine if education and hard work replaced any of those things.

How many black babies have been born or single mothers or aborted since those two dudes decided to loiter in a Starbucks and get arrested? How many young black men have shot each other or went to jail because of drugs?

But yeah, two guys tossed out of a Starbucks for not buying anything and refusing to leave is the big problem...you know, because they were gonna make real estate deals in their sweatpants that day...

racism should not be used as a way to blow off the issue, but neither should expecting them to just fix it all themselves, while there are still things beyond them that are pushing them back down.

the "fuck education" mindset is a reaction (and it's not limited to african american culture, nor does it make up the whole culture). work to change what they are reacting to, and maybe things would start to be different for them.

What messsge does it send when the media embraces things like the dudes loitering in Starbucks and protestors come out, making a loitering issue into a racial issue?

it sends the message that people are influenced, into their own conclusions, by what they read in the media

Do you see a clear cut agenda with the media running so fast with that particular story? I was once hurried along at a busy restaurant. Was it because I was white? I stopped to use a restroom and was denied stating it was for customers only, was it because I am Latino? I was once told I could not refill my drink for free, was it because I was black?

Or is it possible that most things have nothing to do with race?

i think that identity is used against people, a lot more than it should be. people make things about race, more than they should.

To me, the moment you are doing something wrong and pay the consequences, the race argument becomes null and void.

Race card works when you are vilified for being a certain race, not because you are a criminal and happen to be a certain race.

What are some assumptions you make about people based on their skin color?

I don't take it into consideration until someone else points it out. I think we are in the vast majority. The media is hyping a barely existent and almost extinct problem.

i think that identity politics are used against people a lot, when it shouldn't be. but also recognize that it does happen more than you seem to want to make it out. just because you don't recognize it, doesn't mean you aren't doing it.

I judge people constantly, but not for their skin color. The amount of pigmentation in their skin is meaningless. Now, go into a building with your hoodie up, or get on the motorized scooter you don't need, and I will judge you as trash. I have black cousins and I am marrying a brown person. I find beauty in all shades and I am a fan of black culture.

everyone judges people. if you judge black people differently than people of other races, in a similar situation. maybe look at that more closely. if not, fair.

If anything, I give black people the benefit of the doubt more because they frequently claim systematic reasons for their behavior.
