The food truck had one of our annual health inspections yesterday. We had no choice in the matter and had to take the truck to the health department parking lot for the inspection. Not knowing how long this would take, we cancelled our Monday vending location and posted we would not be there on facebook.
Lady show up at the restaurant wanting a cheesesteak we serve on the food truck. Staff explains the restaurant has a different menu (it is posted online). She gets angry, throws down the menu, slams the door, stomps out, etc. People are so out of touch.

if their policy is that you need to order right away, then that's their policy. and they were in the right. i just hope they are consistent with it, even if it wasn't the policy to start with.Foo wrote:What was Starbucks supposed to do differently? could be that the friend who showed up, was gonna buy the drinks for them. we don't know the situation. but waiting outside is always an option, i guess. i really hope that starbucks is really consistent now, with how they treat people who come in and don't buy right away, or else it's gonna bite them hard. *shrug*
Keep in mind, different locations are much busier than others. You might not be able to get a table all the time at a Philly Starbucks.

This was not Times Square. It did not need cops.
Re: The Starbucks Incident, the Memes and the Hilarity
honestly, i would have asked when they expected the friend. if he didn't show up around that time they said they expected him, i would let them know that i really needed them to leave and come back when he got there. if it was a disruption, or i needed the space for another customer. then i would probably call the police, if i couldn't get them out any other way.Foo wrote: When they were asked at least three times to leave a business that they did not own nor buy anything from, and had to be forced out by the police, that says nothing about them?

but they didn't seem to be causing a disruption, or being shitty, like that lady did.

It was in the middle of downtown fucking Philly, and it needed cops.showa58taro wrote:This was not Times Square. It did not need cops.

Should the manager point a gun at them? Or have the baristas gang up and pull them out of the business?showa58taro wrote:This was not Times Square. It did not need cops.
Calling the cops when a person is trespassing is EXACTLY what liberal society tells us to do.

So the manager did the right thing. They asked them to either become a customer or leave. Short of physical force, they had no alternative.zombie wrote:honestly, i would have asked when they expected the friend. if he didn't show up around that time they said they expected him, i would let them know that i really needed them to leave and come back when he got there. if it was a disruption, or i needed the space for another customer. then i would probably call the police, if i couldn't get them out any other way.Foo wrote: When they were asked at least three times to leave a business that they did not own nor buy anything from, and had to be forced out by the police, that says nothing about them?

Why didn't they leave when the police asked them to?
Re: The Starbucks Incident, the Memes and the Hilarity
the manager did the best that he could, i guess. i just hope it's consistent moving forward, for the sake of the employees at that store. but that's a pity party apparently. *shrug*Foo wrote:So the manager did the right thing. i don't know why. but you're gonna theorize.
Re: The Starbucks Incident, the Memes and the Hilarity
If this is a race issue, I think we see it in the people who think so low of black people to assume they cannot obey the basic rules of civilized society. Like, "Oh, common courtesy doesn't apply to black people, they don't know any better...".
Re: The Starbucks Incident, the Memes and the Hilarity
it only becomes a real race issue, if the people in charge of that starbucks are shown to handle a couple of white guys, not ordering right away, differently than they did here. the media and politicians like to make everything into an issue, whatever kind of issue they feel like they have the best chance of.Foo wrote:If this is a race issue, I think we see it in the people who think so low of black people to assume they cannot obey the basic rules of civilized society. and you like that too, cause it serves your agenda.

Consistent in what way? *Watches a black guy get arrested* - "Gosh, I just hope he was arrested because he did something wrong and not because he is black..."
You don't see how that sounds like a pity party? This incident is clear cut. Everyone acknowledges they did not buy anything and they were asked to leave multiple times if they did not. What is the problem here?

My agenda is treating people equal. What is yours? Giving folks special treatment and making excuses for them because they have darker skin? We are all pink on the inside!zombie wrote:it only becomes a real race issue, if the people in charge of that starbucks are shown to handle a couple of white guys, not ordering right away, differently than they did here. the media and politicians like to make everything into an issue, whatever kind of issue they feel like they have the best chance of.Foo wrote:If this is a race issue, I think we see it in the people who think so low of black people to assume they cannot obey the basic rules of civilized society. Do you think the black manager who called the police was racist against the black people? How about the black cop who arrested them? How about the black police chief who said they had no choice when the guys weren't customers and didn't leave when asked, even after the police asked.
Re: The Starbucks Incident, the Memes and the Hilarity
Does it matter how long? Ever go to a busy place for Valentines or Mother's Day? Ever been to a restaurant that will ONLY seat entire parties? I have been to dozens like that If you reserve a table for four and two are there, you wait for all four.Jmac Attack wrote:Of course Foo, I would. Jesus.
