And I have been temporarily detained in Panama and not allowed to travel into Venezuela and she has been detained in Curacao (for hours), in efforts to simply visit each other. She cannot come here as a tourist. So yeah, there is a process and that is hardly unique to the US.

- is a dentist
- speaks perfect english
- brings no children or other societal burdens with her
- is coming to a household that can support her
- follows the laws
- is from a dangerous place where she is not safe
So yeah, the priority is clearly protecting people who are going to be burdens to our society and come here illegally. Makes perfect sense, just like most liberal priorities.
Re: June 15
And yes, we will spend thousands on attorney fees. Those who sneak across often get free legal help when they are caught.
Re: June 15
liberals make burdens for their own country, and expect that country to fix the mess they make. conservatives make burdens for other countries and expect those countries to fix the mess they make. take your pick as to how you want to be a burden... you know, since we're making blanking judgments and blanket blame.Foo wrote:Well, my fiance:Tiggnutz wrote:Its a shame that absolutely nobody but those dealing with it care about legal immigrationFoo wrote:And I have been temporarily detained in Panama and not allowed to travel into Venezuela and she has been detained in Curacao (for hours), in efforts to simply visit each other. If everything you just stated is true, isn't it kind of a no brainer that you would rather have a mess elsewhere rather than where you live?zombie wrote:liberals make burdens for their own country, and expect that country to fix the mess they make. conservatives make burdens for other countries and expect those countries to fix the mess they make. take your pick as to how you want to be a burden... you know, since we're making blanking judgments and blanket blame.Foo wrote:Well, my fiance:Tiggnutz wrote:Its a shame that absolutely nobody but those dealing with it care about legal immigrationFoo wrote:And I have been temporarily detained in Panama and not allowed to travel into Venezuela and she has been detained in Curacao (for hours), in efforts to simply visit each other. I am likely going to have to consider a different career path for whatever time I have left. I can't have an episode once a year and miss three months of work because I have a commercial license.

what i stated is as true as what you did. and yeah, i guess it's a no brainer. just don't pretend that conservatives are innocent and pure.

i think it would really do you a lot of good if you can find another profession.Jason wrote:I am likely going to have to consider a different career path for whatever time I have left. I can't have an episode once a year and miss three months of work because I have a commercial license.

True. CDL is limiting. Gotta find a way to work with your mind, sir.Jason wrote:I am likely going to have to consider a different career path for whatever time I have left. I can't have an episode once a year and miss three months of work because I have a commercial license.
Re: June 15
I was a pretty solid athlete when I was younger. I bowed out early because I didn't want to be "that guy" in his 30s with no future to fall back on in case it didn't work out The irony is stunning, because I ended up being "that guy" since my safety profession ended up doing exactly what my pursuit of an athletic profession didn't do.

Re: June 15
I want to feel some sort of self-worth in a profession I choose. I can find that in being an athlete, but it's far too late now. I would join the Special Forces, but I am 30 and single, and I think the lack of a companion is starting to take a toll on me. I can't be overseas and doing that if I want to be with someone. My head will not be fully in the military. They probably won't have me anyway once they find out I have this weird blood issue. So what if I find a great woman? My career is still in shambles and there is hardly anything I can think of that generates any feeling of self-worth.
It's a shitty predicament.

Mhmm. If I was even sticking with art, which sometimes I wish I didn't, I at least wish I applied to the Joe Kubert School of Art instead of the one I did go to. At least then, it's specifically aimed at comic book art, rather than teaching me to be a pretentious knob, which didn't go well for some of the teachers.Jason wrote:I want to feel some sort of self-worth in a profession I choose.
