SCOTUS Justice retires
Kennedy hanging up his moderate center boots and calling it a day. Trump gets to make his second SCOTUS nomineee. The media is ablaze with people saying the McCinnell rules apply and that no choice should be heard until the midterms.
But they would be wrong. This highlights just how bad the Trump sun is but that doesn’t mean you change the process. You change the law and you change the government.

Lonely teardrops.
Lonely, liberal teardrops. The dems get wiped out in the midterms anyway so it's just delaying the inevitable.

Re: SCOTUS Justice retires
Just should undo the terrible fucking travesty that was Merrick Garland not being given his seat.
Re: SCOTUS Justice retires
What if they appointed someone like a Rosa Parks' Republican granddaughter or some shit?
Man, the conflicting emotions you'd have there. Lol. I mean, she's black. Blacks are weak and need to be babied and protected according to the dems, so giving her this seat would do racial justice! But grrr, she's a no good (I'm not racist, though), filthy (not racist), scum-o-tge-earth (I'm still not racist, btw) republican. Republicans are racist, grrr! How can she be a republican when they hates the blacks? Grrr make me so angry.

This is a full blown meltdown by Jason. Just a bizarre and unfortunate thing to witness.
I wish him the best.

Re: SCOTUS Justice retires
This is by far the biggest victory for conservatives in the Trump regime. The three really old justices all being liberal really opened the door for a Republican president to make the judicial branch a right wing institution for a long time.Tiggnutz wrote:I forsee Trump selecting 3 justices
Roe v. Wade ruling suddenly back in play. Just crazy.

Re: SCOTUS Justice retires
You guys deserve what you get if you elect a crackpot demagogue guy. Either he elects right wingers and you realize SCOTUS for life is untenable, or you get the right wingers and nothing bad happens and then all the hysteria was misplaced. Think the worse it gets the better. People voted for Trump despite warnings of the consequences. There need to be consequences to wake people up and not accept politics as a thing that doesn’t affect them.
Re: SCOTUS Justice retires
I would be very surprised if Roe vs Wade is ever reversed and Trump probably goes moderate with his pick again as a half olive branch half democrat trap maneuver.

Re: SCOTUS Justice retires
That would be lame. He’s done nothing olive branch like. I think he should elect a solidly conservative judge, overturn Roe v Wade and all the progress for LGBTQ people and then see how many people accept this as the norm.

Correction: we didn't elect him. The "Electoral College" did.showa58taro wrote:You guys deserve what you get if you elect a crackpot demagogue guy. Great news for the entire nation! The DNC will put Ginsburg on life support before she needs it just to make sure she lives the next 6 years.
Re: SCOTUS Justice retires
On Roe v Wade, it is a problematic ruling for reasons beyond abortion. Would rather see a good law that replaces the court ruling, whether it fully legalizes or fully bans abortion should be a separate discussion.Tiggnutz wrote:I would be very surprised if Roe vs Wade is ever reversed and Trump probably goes moderate with his pick again as a half olive branch half democrat trap maneuver.

Just as an example as to the fucked up world we live in, we once argued that it was always life. Then the issue of viability outside of the mother cane into play, then as technology changed, we look at a different set of criteria.
Whatever our morals are, we should just come out and define them. A 23 week old fetus shouldn't be killed or saved based on political feelings of the moment.
