Agree. No harm in discussing things.zombie wrote:well yeah, agreed. but nothing wrong with giving our perspectives too.showa58taro wrote:I just hope Jason feels better in himself. However that happens is fine by me.

Re: 7-11-18
From my experience, anti-depressants were most helpful in giving me the energy to get through the daily grind when I felt too sluggish otherwise. Emotionally they didn't ever make me feel good but did sort of numb any extreme down periods out to a tolerable level. I have been off them for about 1.5 years and I only feel slightly worse off for it, not bad considering my dad died, I've surprised myself with how I've dealt with it in a mostly positive way. The only medication that ever helped me feel calm, relaxed and not dealing with that barrage of thoughts were Adderall and Vyvanse and I didn't use them with that intention. That is another rabbit hole to jump into entirely.
Big difference between treating unipolar and bipolar depression though.

This many people should not need pills to adjust their mood. It is a societal problem, not a problem with individual brains.
Re: 7-11-18
I'm wondering if (maybe just in my case) that this whole mood downer thing is just me getting older and mellowing out. Like A Rock is a song that really resonates with me. When I was 18 I was young and energetic and full of wonder in life. I think now that I've experienced life and done a lot of the things I've wondered about, that I've mellowed out and just overall care less about shit.

Individual vary, but I think a meaningful career and family to nurture and provide for go a long way.Jason wrote:I'm wondering if (maybe just in my case) that this whole mood downer thing is just me getting older and mellowing out. Also, the realization that pill reliance is a new thing. Act like it is 50 years ago.
Re: 7-11-18
maybe it's a new societal problem. maybe there were other ways of dealing with it, which are not in fashion now or illegal? maybe it's linked to something else that is relatively new, in our culture? who are you to say? who am i to say? we don't really know. if it works for somebody, then let them use it. if it doesn't work for you, then don't use it. pretty simple.Foo wrote:This many people should not need pills to adjust their mood. Re: 7-11-18
do you think with this trend that we will get follow ups to older sequels too (like a follow up to dream child with an older alice and jacob or something) or sequels to films that had been standalone to this point? (like tourist trap or whatever else)
Re: 7-11-18
i didn't mean just my examples were the end of it. just what i thought of. but you don't think it will happen at all with sequels or previously standalone flicks?Jason wrote:No. Not enough mainstream popularity for some of those.
Re: 7-11-18
Who is it really "working for"? I am not talking about in the moment. I am talking in the long run. We have no precedent for all these people on these medications for the long term. We do know they can benefit people but we also know they addict at the same rates as drugs like heroin. We also see pretty nasty trends if violence against others and theirselves when coming off of them.zombie wrote:maybe it's a new societal problem. maybe there were other ways of dealing with it, which are not in fashion now or illegal? maybe it's linked to something else that is relatively new, in our culture? who are you to say? who am i to say? we don't really know. if it works for somebody, then let them use it. if it doesn't work for you, then don't use it. pretty simple.Foo wrote:This many people should not need pills to adjust their mood. I think it is Pandora's box, and not a solution at all and a quick fix at best. You might patch a car tire with duct tape for a while, but it is hardly a fix.
Re: 7-11-18
near dark or night of the creeps would both have been better possibilities than tourist trap. just hadn't thought of them. anyways my topic is sound, regardless of the bad movie choices. discuss, dammit!

Re: 7-11-18
The possibility is certainly always there because Hollywood is almost incapable of having creativity in movie making today so they have to borrow from popular movies of the past and reprint the movie on their CGI computers.zombie wrote:i didn't mean just my examples were the end of it. just what i thought of. but you don't think it will happen at all with sequels or previously standalone flicks?Jason wrote:No. Not enough mainstream popularity for some of those.

So I am a member of a pro street vendor group. Quite a few members will make videos of themselves, either asking questions or showing their set up.
A lady in the group is always wearing low cut tops in her videos, always taking shots from a higher angle to show a lot of breast, and always making an effort to keep them in frame, many times at the expense of the top of her head.
So, of course, some guy makes a not so subtle double entendre joke. He is quickly vilified and banned.
Thoughts?
