No, why would that bother anyone? Let's say you are running for mayor of your town. Someone from the neighboring town says, "Hey, there is something you need to know about what your competitor was doing in our town. Lot's of stuff that is probably illegal. Can I swing by your office and tell you about it?".

I would hope you not only say yes because you are running a diligent campaign, but also because if something is crooked about the person, you are protecting your town from them.

The story has not really changed, the questions have. They took a meeting with a person who claimed to have info. Candidate Trump was not aware of it. The meeting was fruitless and not as advertised, so it was largely forgotten.
