I was expecting something short and simple given the year it was released. It was neither. M could have easily come out 20 or 30 years later. That's a movie I want to own.

Trading Places over Coming to America?

Yeah, not by much. I think the story is better, better supporting characters across the board. Less restrained. Wynthorpe, Ophelia, Mortimer and Randolph, Clarence Beeks, and even Coleman is strong.

The main chick in Coming to America is pretty weak. John Amos is awesome. The landlord is great. Arsenio is strong, but also overshadowed. James Earl Jones is capable, but his lines are not so great.
