It will get heated. Can't take it, don't open the forum.

If his approval rating is great, he's probably doing a poor job.

That isn't a thing in any context. Unless you assume Americans love failure and hate success. Which it seems is pretty unlikely.

Yeah, Obama's rating was through the roof when the helpless sheep thought he was gonna pay for their rent and gas and shiz. Worked out well! :!:

I just had a premonition someone is going to post " so everyone who disapproves of Trump is looking for a handout? "

Approval ratings! brought to you by the sane people who guaranteed a Hillary victory.

The big issue with approval ratings is they are presented as a metric as to how well the president is doing. They are just a starting point for discussion, not a verdict.

For instance, a person could disapprove if Trump because of the way he communicates as president, but like his policy stances. Or, perhaps someone else hates everything about him.

In both of those, approval doesn't really matter because the first guy is not gonna suddenly support Democrats and the second guy already voted for Hillary in a losing effort.

To be honest, Foo says something quite true in that there are varying degrees of approving or disapproving. It does t have to mean anything cataclysmic. I can buy this. But the idea that a metric used for decades should now be used the wrong way round seems like the height of folly to me.

Also I still can't work out why you'd think low approval was a good thing even by the "people aren't getting freebies" metric. As you'd assume most of society doesn't get a freebie and that this would correlate to record approvals.

Approval ratings are pointless and who were all these people who thought Obama was doing a good job because I never met any of them. Did they just ask Seb a million times if he approved.

Yup. I always said I did. Because Obama was a God among mortals and never did anything wrong.
