Bond films will always work because of real world political climates. They're essentially a piece of history. I'm also glad they only pop out once every couple years or so. There are 24 over the last 56 years. It's a great franchise.Foo wrote:I shared a site with combined run times as we were discussing amounts. I thought it was interesting to know the numbers. Given that F13 is such a long running series, I thought it was interesting that there was so much more Bond. *shrug*DancesWithWerewolves wrote:What's your point? Argue everything on the site just to argue? When i said "a little more" I was referring to the repetitive-ness, not "little more" installments.
I just don't get why it was argumentative that there are more Bond movies.

I think it only added to his intensity. Could have been intentional to keep his hair a little out of whack at times. It helped, imo. He's a really underappreciated Bond.DancesWithWerewolves wrote:I love that Johnson and Johnson from Die Hard are both in this movie, complete with a score from Michael Kamen, lol.
Sidenote: Could audiences have taken T-Dal more seriously had he had a good hairstylist? His hair in both this and Living Daylights is pretty awful.
The Living Daylights is fucking amazing. That sniper scene in the beginning... soooo goooood. The Bond girl would definitely rank near the top, too.

Bugs me still with the Idris Elba suggestions for Bond, when he's specifically a character whose background is specifically English White Privilege and Education. It's even mentioned here in GoldenEye. He's "Old Money".
Re: DWW's Merry Bond Adventure
If anyone calls you racist for that statement, just counter with "I wouldn't want to see two white ass dudes in a Friday remake".

It would be the same as Batman. "Old Money" is not black in Europe or the US. Hard pill for some to swallow.Jason wrote:If anyone calls you racist for that statement, just counter with "I wouldn't want to see two white ass dudes in a Friday remake".

Alan Cumming really hurts GoldenEye for me. And I only just realized this. I usually like him, but he's so annoying in this.

still works if the agent is given the name "james bond".DancesWithWerewolves wrote:Bugs me still with the Idris Elba suggestions for Bond, when he's specifically a character whose background is specifically English White Privilege and Education. It depends largely on what defines Bond. I’d be ok with it.zombie wrote:still works if the agent is given the name "james bond".DancesWithWerewolves wrote:Bugs me still with the Idris Elba suggestions for Bond, when he's specifically a character whose background is specifically English White Privilege and Education. Sean Connery never played him like a young guy. Never bothered me to think of him as reasonably aged.Tiggnutz wrote:But Idris has the perfect cool for itTiggnutz wrote:Too oldshowa58taro wrote:It depends largely on what defines Bond. That's just a fan theory. The codeame is 007, his name is James Bond.zombie wrote:still works if the agent is given the name "james bond".DancesWithWerewolves wrote:Bugs me still with the Idris Elba suggestions for Bond, when he's specifically a character whose background is specifically English White Privilege and Education. Re: DWW's Merry Bond Adventure
Connery did come off way older than 32 when he first played him. Same with George at 29, lol. Mid 40's now is like the early 30's then.showa58taro wrote:Sean Connery never played him like a young guy. Re: DWW's Merry Bond Adventure
Though if the plan is to kill off current Bond and THEN use his name as a codename, then that'd be a different story.
