Re: Kavanaugh Debacle
This morning there was a lady claiming to have heard about this incident when she was in high school through rumors circulating. The problem: the accuser states she did not ever mention it to anyone until therapy sessions in 2012.
The lady was posting under a different name and has since deleted the tweets.

It has played out. This is like complaining about a strike call on a first inning pitch after a team hits a walk off home run in the 9th.Headhunter wrote:Why don't you two at least let things play out before having an opinion just for the sake of having an opinion? People who jump to pick a side in these cases are like Sideshow Bob stepping on rakes. It's so unnecessary.

Your opinion is tied entirely to your partisan views, just like Democrats on the other side. Such a pointless, disingenuous exercise.Foo wrote:It has played out. Not removing until John Elway is fired.
Re: Kavanaugh Debacle
What can even be investigated? Was she hoping he would remember and help her fill in the blanks? I hope she agrees to speak to someone and this just doesn't fade away.

I don't think it is a partisan viewpoint to think using a sexual assault allegation as a political stall tactic is disgusting?Headhunter wrote:Your opinion is tied entirely to your partisan views, just like Democrats on the other side. Those people have no lower limit on their lack of character. Same attitude that they have attacked the president with since the morning after the election. No lie is off limits and they just keep on making up new ones.

So what do you do to distinguish truth from lies here?

You can't have a problem with liars if you're a Trump supporter, though.Foo wrote:I don't think it is a partisan viewpoint to think using a sexual assault allegation as a political stall tactic is disgusting?Headhunter wrote:Your opinion is tied entirely to your partisan views, just like Democrats on the other side. With anything, it is up to the accuser to provide proof against the accused. You don't get to make wild claims and then have everyone scramble around to prove something never happened.showa58taro wrote:So what do you do to distinguish truth from lies here?
In this incident, the accuser cannot even place herself in the same place at the same time as the accused, and the only witness she has provided states no such thing ever happened. He story about the incident has changed with time, and Kavanaugh was never even implicated in earlier accounts she made.

Re: Kavanaugh Debacle
Compare Trump's post election agenda to his campaign rhetoric. Then compare it to other presidents. Trump is clearly the same man. Obama got into office, had neocon foreign policy and who the fuck knows what that healthcare disaster was, but it certainly bore no resemblance to to his campaign promises.
Would have LOVED to see the 2009 Campaigning Obama to tell everyone he is going to make them buy insurance whether they want to or not, whether they can afford it or not.

God damn that was awful.

Meant 2007 campaigning Obama.

Had he said that was the first thing he was going to do, he would never have been president.DancesWithWerewolves wrote:*twitches*Foo wrote:

A bit like he’s working on ensuring nobody touches Medicare and Medicaid?Foo wrote:Slowly, but he continues to work at it.showa58taro wrote:How’s that wall coming along
Re: Kavanaugh Debacle
As in agitating for more funding while they work on fortifying the border with the existing budget. Literally he has done more for border security than any president in my lifetime, which is in line with his campaign rhetoric.showa58taro wrote:A bit like he’s working on ensuring nobody touches Medicare and Medicaid?Foo wrote:Slowly, but he continues to work at it.showa58taro wrote:How’s that wall coming along

Re: Kavanaugh Debacle
Tell you what I’d say is worse than the Foo school of thought (which is bad but is rooted in the principles of jurisprudence at least) is the defenders (And to be fair Kavanaugh himself is not one such person) whose line of defense isn’t did it or did it not happen, but rather that it did happen but that’s no big deal. Idiots like
https://thehill.com/homenews/senate/407 ... -kavanaugh
http://huffp.st/6hozGvT
These defenses are absolutely disgusting. I’d hope if the process runs its course and he DID do it people would universally condemn him. Not just shrug it off.
See how next week goes I guess. The process is broken anyway what difference does it make to add one more right wing asshole to a bench full of them.
