NBA 2018-2019
Anyone see any team other than Golden State winning it this year? I've heard Boston mentioned a few times but we have yet to see them at full strength.

No sport is more stacked against the underdogs. You get stars or you're fucked.Reign in Blood wrote:Sombody's gotta be the Rocky of the NBA, god damnit.

Houston blew its load. Trade defense away, add Melo? Hellll no.

It's a longshot but I would think they have the best shot. I wonder what Vegas thinksHeadhunter wrote:Houston blew its load. Trade defense away, add Melo? Hellll no.

They have Boston with the second best odds. I would agree though I wonder how that whole thing comes together with Kyrie and Hayward healthy. Stevens' teams have played the Warriors better than anyone in recent years though and that's before they added high level talent. They still seem to be a piece away.Tiggnutz wrote:It's a longshot but I would think they have the best shot. I wonder what Vegas thinksHeadhunter wrote:Houston blew its load. I expect LeBron will be courting stars too, not buying his whole "help the young kids grow" angle. He still wants to win titles

Any team with LeBron has a shot, obviously. Why nobody mentions Loss Angeles after that miracle LeBald pulled out of his ass down 3-1 is beyond me...

There isn't a single proven player around him yet. Their defense is gonna be terrible.

It's LeBron James, though.

Yes. And like all NBA stars ever (I'm not sure there's been one exception), he's never won a championship without great players around him.

Dunno. LBJ has been pretty amazing. Here’s hoping.
Re: NBA 2018-2019
I would say the Mavs won with only one great player. Dirk was great, but they had a lot of deeply flawed players and former stars on that roster doing a great job playing roles.Headhunter wrote:Yes. If the Lakers come together and play hard defense like they have guys capable of playing, I could see them doing well. Or it could totally implode.

Re: NBA 2018-2019
That or the 2003 Spurs were the ones I thought about. I can buy that. In the Mavs' case though, that series was all about a young LeBron implosion. Guys stepped up but the best player in the world was individually terrible in a way I've never seen.Foo wrote:I would say the Mavs won with only one great player. I hope you guys are right of course, but for me this season is all about the young guys growing around LeBron. Excited to see how Ingram, Kuzma and Lonzo develop. They will bring in a star next summer. Whether it's Kawhi, KD, Klay or Butler they will bring in someone else and that is probably their best shot.

Didn't Dirk have Nash?
