Finally!

I'm gonna miss the Celtics/Sixers game, unfortunately, but I'll still get to see OKC beat the yellow shit out of GS.

Too many fouls. Otherwise, not a bad first quarter considering a lack of Westbrook.

Not too bad all things considered. they still miss too many free throws.

This Lakers team is a bizarre basketball experiment straight out of the 80s. Just no shooting. Can't score off cuts when nobody is even bothering to guard the cutters.
Not removing until John Elway is fired.

OKC about to go to 0-2. Not surprising considering it took them 4 minutes to get on the board. Another frustrating season where missed free throws will cost them more than a few games.

For sure. It is why I am interested in them as I think it is a good strategy. Not saying it won't totally implode, but I like teams that can find value in going against convention. They were never going to beat GS or HOU by assembling better shooters, so give yourself a chance as the contrarian.

The Niners struck gold in the NFL when everyone was about power running and big armed qbs. The A's/Red Sox changed the game with focus on numbers beyond batting average and the counting stats.

I'm not convinced LeBron and Magic won't trade a crop of these young guys for a star at the first opportunity. Ingram might be untouchable but the other guys are B/B+ upside players.

I understand why they would try to zag when the rest of the league zigs but I think the defense will be a bit of a mess and I'm not sure they'll be able to score with the best teams if they're not hitting threes.

Yeah, the 3 deficiency was quite jarring. I hate GS for making it about that but now you gotta deliver there.

I think the scoring system in basketball overvalues the difficulty of the three-point shot in the sense that it's not significantly harder to make than a long two, so it's kind of crazy that teams weren't taking advantage of it more for 30+ years. Basic math should have dictated this transition long ago.

Old timers. Same reason baseball was valuing a lot of things that turned out to be wrong, and still continued to even after it being demonstrated mathmstically for decades.

Part of me wants to believe the NBA might make a rule change to reduce the ugliness of the current offense, but they continue to become a bigger and bigger global presence, and are popular with kids, so it will get worse.

Power forwards and centers now practice corner threes like free throws. Awful.

Do you really think the current offense is ugly, especially compared to what the NBA was like 15-20 years ago? Teams are playing with pace and moving the ball again.

Mathematically? The numbers have always been there, and it's still that you're more likely to brick. Curry and the gangs irregular efficiency made it a bad fad.
