NBA 2018-2019

All sports. We don't even mind if its women's Curling or junior badminton. Although we won't have strong opinions on the latter.

Would like to see them allow hand checking on the perimeter again.

Old timers. Same reason baseball was valuing a lot of things that turned out to be wrong, and still continued to even after it being demonstrated mathmstically for decades.

Part of me wants to believe the NBA might make a rule change to reduce the ugliness of the current offense, but they continue to become a bigger and bigger global presence, and are popular with kids, so it will get worse.

Power forwards and centers now practice corner threes like free throws. Awful.
Do you really think the current offense is ugly, especially compared to what the NBA was like 15-20 years ago? Teams are playing with pace and moving the ball again.
Yeah, because I think playing for a lower percentage shot that is easier to get is silly but made desirable by a 50% increase in points for a make.

In the NFL, it would be like lingering around the 40 yard line to kick a long field goal that is worth 10 points.
15 years ago, NBA offense was your best guard dribbling the ball for 20 seconds and getting ISO looks. This is much better.

I feel like you should be rewarded more for good looks closer to the basket, as they are harder to get. What would it look like if the scoring system was:

4 points in the lane
3 points outside of the lane
2 points beyond the arc

?

Probably a lot more like basketball. Remember when team strategy involved "Defending the paint" as a primary tenant?
Not in favor of flipping a game upside down that is 200% more watchable than it was because teams just discovered the concept of spacing.

Another Lakers loss where the difference is shooting ineptitude. They are going to need at least one more shooter.

Was nice to see much more variety among the stars. Jordan, Magic, Shaq, Webber, Kidd, Iverson, Duncan, Gary Payton, Malone, Ben Wallace, Robinson, etc. There were a variety of ways to be a star player and the styles were much more diverse. Of course there were many stars who were great 3 point shooters, but you could see guys at every position just as good who made up for it in other ways.

Gimme odds of Westbrook hoisting the NBA Finals trophy in his career.

Could he become the best player to never do so? (Sorry Chuck!)

Their chance has passed them by I'm afraid. Best never to do so? Sure, for my money. But I'm clearly biased.

Next up is Boston. That should go well. Billy Donovan has to be sweating bullets about now.

Just swap out the Warios for the Thunder and you got yourself a perfect scenario to end the season.

Nuggets are gonna win the Finals. 66-16. 2 seed, take out the Warios in WCF and then take out the Raptors to win it all.
