So, she holds an opinion that I feel many would consider to be reasonable, and gets fired? Had she dressed in blackface, I suppose that would be different. but this is really a bizarre standard.
Are we so far from "Cultural Appropriation" to be grounds for firing? If a white woman shows up with curly, teased out hair, would she be guilty?
What if I want to dress like Michael Jackson in his early years, rather than his later years? Will zombie ever dress like Stevie Wonder for Halloween again?!

How horrible to get 69 million dollars to not work. I will pray that she gets her life back on track.

The issue is suppression of ideas. Not her pay.Headhunter wrote:How horrible to get 69 million dollars to not work. I will pray that she gets her life back on track.

She has made a lot of money to spout stupid ideas already, now she's getting a big ol bag to shut up. She'll be fine and so will you.Foo wrote:The issue is suppression of ideas. So much for caring about issues that affect your life . . .
Megyn Kelly: victimized with a 69 million dollar bag. A tragedy anyone can relate to.
I'm just putting this out there: I am open to selling my right to express blackface takes on the open market. Megyn Kelly got 69 mil, I'll be generous and start the bidding at 10.

No one is gonna cry for her because she's still getting all that money, but it was no reason to fire her.
Re: Hyper Sensitivity...when thoughts are enough
nbc has to take into account how this could come back on them. they're within their rights. etc.
i don't think her comments justified being booted, but this is where we are now.

It is not a problem, it is a confirmation that the media endorses a single line of thinking. They are no longer referees, they are players.

Yup, the American people can only trust Trump now.
Re: Hyper Sensitivity...when thoughts are enough
because trump, so often, speaks from a position that doesn't serve himself.Reign in Blood wrote:Yup, the American people can only trust Trump now.

Re: Hyper Sensitivity...when thoughts are enough
Well no, but how funny would it be to have all news articles written like they're Trump speech transcripts? That would be hilarious. Just incoherent rambling to no end and repeating the same thing like five times in a paragraph.Reign in Blood wrote:Yup, the American people can only trust Trump now.

Why settle for that when you can have the written version of this:Headhunter wrote:Well no, but how funny would it be to have all news articles written like they're Trump speech transcripts? That clown giving a sermon on race relations. lmao. They hypocrisy is stunning. Will always laugh at those clips.

Who is "we"? How many people do you know who think here statement warrants firing?zombie wrote:nbc has to take into account how this could come back on them. they're within their rights. etc.

If someone wanted to dress as the incredible hulk and painted themselves green, they are doing so to match the character. If someone wants to resemble Lionel Richie, and they paint themselves to match his skin color, what is the big problem?

it is where we as a society are now. and again, i don't agree with the decision.Foo wrote:Who is "we"? How many people do you know who think here statement warrants firing?zombie wrote:nbc has to take into account how this could come back on them. they're within their rights. etc.

So Trump is more well-spoken than Obama, is what you're getting at?Foo wrote:Why settle for that when you can have the written version of this:Headhunter wrote:Well no, but how funny would it be to have all news articles written like they're Trump speech transcripts? Obama caught himself at 0:07 and knew he had to 180 his opinion on stage.Headhunter wrote:So Trump is more well-spoken than Obama, is what you're getting at?
Re: Hyper Sensitivity...when thoughts are enough
I think they are different speakers. If the measure of good speech is effectiveness, they are two of the greatest who have ever lived. My point is that transcribing live speech into articles is a bad idea in general.Headhunter wrote:So Trump is more well-spoken than Obama, is what you're getting at?Foo wrote:Why settle for that when you can have the written version of this:Headhunter wrote:Well no, but how funny would it be to have all news articles written like they're Trump speech transcripts? Re: Hyper Sensitivity...when thoughts are enough
Why is it that the other end of this "single line of thinking" only ever seems to consist of racist/xenophobic/sexist garbage? It's never anything worth standing up for.Foo wrote:It is not a problem, it is a confirmation that the media endorses a single line of thinking. They are no longer referees, they are players.
