Listen to the Ballad of Brian Wilson. The second half of that song is so beautiful. Also, Good Night Song.Tiggnutz wrote:Songwriter tooJmac Attack wrote:Their singer is a phenomenal guitarist.Tiggnutz wrote:Man I love Tears For Fears band was way ahead of its time

Re: Music Fiend
Plant and the Honeydrippers only did like 5 songs, I think. I definitely don't dislike it, but he has better solo stuff. Check out the other two I mentioned. 29 Palms and Big Log, if you haven't heard them already.Tiggnutz wrote:I heard Sea of Love and thought you would probably have loved thatJason wrote:The band Robert Plant formed after Bonham died?Tiggnutz wrote:Jason any thoughts on the Honey Drippers?
They're ok. I think hearing Plant with Zeppelin for so many years ingrained his vocals in my head to the classic rock genre. Hearing him outside of it was like seeing a teacher outside of school. You know who it is, but it's not what you're accustomed to.
As far as his solo stuff, I can really get behind "29 Palms" and "Big Log", those are two of my favorites from his solo career. And hearing him cover Johnny Horton's "I'm A One Woman Man" was also fun to listen to. But he will always be Led Zeppelin to me, Same with Page, Bonham, JPJ...
Re: Music Fiend
Just read that Robert Plant was mortified at the success of Sea Of Love. It was released as the B side to Rockin' At Midnight but Sea of Love got more radio play and he feared people would no longer think of him as a rock n roll singer. lol.
To Plant's delight I'm sure, I prefer Rockin' At Midnight to Sea Of Love.

I liked Plants country shit with Allison Krause. But not enough to buy it. It was good though.
Re: Music Fiend
Of course I love other solo plant more but I do love that tune Sea of Love thought his voice was perfect for that remake
Re: Music Fiend
I definitely like, but hearing Plant outside of Zepp will always take some getting used to for me.Tiggnutz wrote:Of course I love other solo plant more but I do love that tune Sea of Love thought his voice was perfect for that remake

Jason, what did ya think of The Firm? Paul Rodgers is great. So is Page. I personally thought it was good. But not as good as Bad Company or Zeppelin of course.
Re: Music Fiend
How about everyone's thoughts on Ambrosia I love this band and it has no ex Zeppelin cats lol

Haven't heard enough to really give an opinion. Radioactive is good, though.Jmac Attack wrote:Jason, what did ya think of The Firm? Paul Rodgers is great. So is Page. I personally thought it was good. But not as good as Bad Company or Zeppelin of course.

I had that record growing up. It's good. Not great though. I still need to hear Paul Rodgers with Queen. He can really sing. Has his own God given gift when it comes to tone. Have you checked that out? I am about to.....Jason wrote:Haven't heard enough to really give an opinion. Radioactive is good, though.Jmac Attack wrote:Jason, what did ya think of The Firm? I am OK with a Who greatest hits CD. I don't love them, but they are good. That song you posted from Townshend is the only song I know of from him when he went solo.Reign in Blood wrote:Jason, what'd you think of Townshend going solo? He's got this diddy

If you are impatient, skip to 1:16, but this might be Joe Walsh's best track and nobody even knows about it.

Yes. But as great as Simon & Garfunkel were, I've always considered them to be a watered down, diet-lite version of The Everly Brothers.Reign in Blood wrote:Jason! , Did you know Simon broke from Garfunkel?

My oldest brother saw Joe Walsh in Columbus during the Confessor tour. He still has the shirt. Holes and all.Jason wrote:I am OK with a Who greatest hits CD. I don't love them, but they are good.
