I started reading his book. Really, it is the same guy other than his love for Oprah back then. Very tough on crime, drugs, and illegal aliens. Wanting to renegotiate bad trade deals, etc. He was also an advocate for uncoupling healthcare from employment, and offering universal access to insurance, which is something I have long supported. Sadly, I think Obamacare and Democrat lies kill that possibility.
