My newest list has H20 behind 4. I made the list I quoted after rewatching the franchise. But I tend to remember 4 in a better light than H20.

Re: Halloween Timeline
in the excitement of seeing Halloween (2018) I put it in 2nd place. After multiple viewings, I've moved down to 3rd after the first two.

Re: Halloween Timeline
That whole therapist sub-plot of Halloween (2018) just felt so off to me. Just couldn't dig it nearly as I wish I did. Still great movie, but nowhere near top tier.

Re: Halloween Timeline
yeah, that was predictable and lame. Especially when he kills the cop. Too far.

Still 2nd place for me, but the original part II is still on its ass.Monster wrote:in the excitement of seeing Halloween (2018) I put it in 2nd place. After multiple viewings, I've moved down to 3rd after the first two.
Re: Halloween Timeline
Bumping.
Looking forward to reranking and where the two newest Halloween movies land. They are both so even that they'll fall in right next to each other on the list. But where?
About to fire up Producer's Cut of part 6.

Re: Halloween Timeline
So I'll just rank them to the best of my ability, from best to worst:
1) Halloween (1978)
2) Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers (1988)
3) Halloween III: Season of the Witch (1982)
4) Halloween II (1981)
5) Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers (1989)
6) Halloween (2018)
7) Halloween H20: 20 Years Later (1998)
8) Halloween Kills (2021)
9) Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers (1995)
10) Halloween: Resurrection (2002)
11) Halloween (2007)
12) Halloween II (2009)
There is definitely room for movement around 8-11. Also important to note is that while Halloween (2018) might be better than Halloween 5, nine times out of ten, if I was told to watch one of them, I'd go with Halloween 5.

Re: Halloween Timeline
After last week, my Halloween timeline is just like my zip drive for my Blu Ray player. Halloween 1978, Halloween 2018 and Halloween Kills. How amazing would it be if someone super cut the HK Halloween scenes directly after Halloween 1978, then 2018 and the present day HK stuff. One big seamless movie experience. 40 years of terror!

Re: Halloween Timeline
i was actually planning on writing a fan story of a redo on Halloween 6 which still has the thorn storyline in it BUT which gaves Jamie a longer role & which reveals that laurie actually Did fake her death in that timeline and which ties all the movies together in the same timeline (not sure if i explained that right)
but i was planning on typing it into a script and filming it with the sims 2.

Re: Halloween Timeline
The Halloween Franchise is unique because it has three distant timelines that follow the 1978 original. Then you've got the RZ films and Halloween III.
I label the timelines as follows:
The original timeline (AKA Thorn timeline) which consist of Halloween (78), Halloween II (81), Halloween 4, Halloween 5, & Halloween 6
H20 timeline - Halloween (78), Halloween II (81), Halloween H20, & Halloween Resurrection.
Legacy timeline - Halloween (78), Halloween (18), Halloween Kills, & Halloween Ends.
The Legacy timeline is my personal favorite despite it ignoring Halloween II. Then the original timeline is second in line. It still holds up well with Halloween II and Halloween 4 being good sequels. H20 I never cared for and mostly ignore it. Halloween III is awesome and a good stand alone horror films. The RZ films are fucking trash as far as I am concerned.

Re: Halloween Timeline
whenever there is a new halloween movie, do you think they'll follow one of the existing timelines, or will it be another remake?
Re: Halloween Timeline
Firstly, NO MORE remakes! Enough is enough with the remakes, reboots etc. lol
Secondly, I feel this franchise is limited in the directions it can go at this point. The Legacy timeline is done. Halloween Ends ended Michael for good in that universe. Now he's still alive in the original and H2O timelines. But neither of those ended with any storylines that I feel are worth revesting but that is an one option for them to explore if they wanted. With that said, in my opinion the only good option they can explore is a crossover with one of the other horror franchises. I.E. Michael finally crossing paths with Jason or they can revisit the crossover idea they had with Hellraiser from 20 years ago. The big hurdle there would be the rights issues, especially where Jason is concerned. The storyline would be the other hurdle but i imagine someone could come up with something that would work.
Other than that I don't feel there's much more gas in the tank for Halloween. The recent Legacy films were a great send off for this series imo.
Re: Halloween Timeline
i want the next film to start from halloween 4. danielle harris can be the next shape to come home to haddonfield. let ensue a fourth timeline!Lazerus wrote: ↑Fri Dec 13, 2024 8:03 amFirstly, NO MORE remakes! Enough is enough with the remakes, reboots etc. lol

I like that idea and while it would be great to see Harris back (this time as the killer) I don't feel it would work. They tried making a "Halloween" without Michael once before and it we all know how that went.zombie wrote: ↑Fri Dec 13, 2024 8:14 ami want the next film to start from halloween 4. danielle harris can be the next shape to come home to haddonfield. let ensue a fourth timeline!Lazerus wrote: ↑Fri Dec 13, 2024 8:03 amFirstly, NO MORE remakes! they've brought back most of the original film legacy characters. at some point, they're going to have to try legacy sequel characters!Lazerus wrote: ↑Fri Dec 13, 2024 10:24 amI like that idea and while it would be great to see Harris back (this time as the killer) I don't feel it would work.
