Re: Music Fiend
I think Blondie Heart of Glass is a perfect song as I mean every instrument every note is perfectly placed

Just look at the music video of the song. The entire club they're jamming in is filled with coke dust.Reign in Blood wrote:Coke, it makes you meticulous.

How the hell do I buy that song? I much prefer this to the original, and the original is pretty decent itself.Tiggnutz wrote:

Slipknot - We Are Not Your Kind
It's not a bad album, but like The Gray Chapter it'll take a few repeated listens before it finally sinks in. Even though there are some great songs on here, a couple songs towards the end that will most likely be skipped and some short interlude songs that are only there for the overall album experience. There are shades from Self Titled, Iowa and Vol 3 musically and tonally. I don't think it's as heavy as Iowa or All Hope Is Gone, but some songs do almost reach that crescendo. I always dug the weirder Slipknot songs like I Am Hated, Gehenna, The Nameless, Virus Of Life and this album has a few songs like those in the form of Spiders and Nero Forte. I think the stand out songs to me are Unsainted, Nero Forte, Orphan, Critical Darling and Spiders (Due to it's extremely catchy nature of the lyrics.) I'm sure a few more will rise to the top over time, but those are the ones that i've been singing in my head and had to put on repeat multiple times already.

It's pirate folk metal. If you're into pirate shit, it's worth a listen. I personally think pirate stuff is kind of silly. If you're looking to dabble into the folk metal scene, I'd recommend something along the lines of Ensiferum or Skalmold since they have a more epic feel to them and are easier to get into. Skalmold especially for you, due to the Norse theme of their songs.showa58taro wrote:Slaughter, you heard Alestorm? Worth a download?

Ooh. They do sound fun. One Alestorm song came up in Folkmetal Essentials on iTunes. Was intrigued. Think I’ll give Skalmold a listen if they’re available. Though pirate stuff is silly fun in fairness.Slaughterhouserock wrote:It's pirate folk metal. If you're into pirate shit, it's worth a listen. I personally think pirate stuff is kind of silly. Stevie Nicks isn't quite my favorite female vocalist, there's a couple of gals ahead of her, but she is probably the most mesmerizing of them all. Check out the live version of Dreams. The way she sings it, the way she moves... just puts you in a trance.

Metallica's Fuel has grown on me over the years. I like the simplistic nature of the lyrics and theme, just a solid track, can't find fault in it.

Re: Music Fiend
I figure it's sort of a troll job at those that like to say all Tool songs sound the same, by the first song they release sounds like their long filler stuff rather than the usual sledgehammer release. I dig it, but I anticipate many of the others. I hear that Adam Jones uncharacteristically throws down many ripper guitar solos on the album.

It's the only one I like but I like it a lotJason wrote:Never cared much for Santana, to be honest. That one ain't bad, though.
