Trumpcare 2.1
Ok, so we had Trumpcare die before it got to a vote. Then the House made Trumpcare 2.0 and passed it. Now the Senate has made its changes to create Trumpcare 2.1
Highlights so far: Reduces the deficit by $300bn+, 20% reduction in premiums by 2023, states have more disgression around spending, high-income households receive a significant tax break
Lowlights: 22M people lose healthcare, cap on elderly increased from a 3:1 ratio to a 5:1 ratio, removes protection for pre-existing conditions in spirit if not in terms, worsens maternity cover and mental illness cover significantly, reduces overall spending available through Medicaid, increases out of pocket spending, and ensures a death-spiral in the marketplace
The future of US healthcare has come down to this neither-here-nor-there bill that basically gives rich people cash by kicking poor and middle-income people off healthinsurance.

Says something about ones thinking that they believe allowing someone to keep more of what they earn rather than redistributing it to someone else is some sort of gift.
Truth is, they are just ending the Obama tax increases.

Re: Trumpcare 2.1
I would cut this "mental health" bullshit by 90%. It has gotten so out of control. Is there anyone who is not mentally ill these days? Depression, bi-polar, tranny, anxiety...
Medicaid, disability, etc. can also be cut severely. Those people need to get a job.

But they are nto fixing the healthcare system. It's just a glorified tax-break for the wealthy.Foo wrote:Says something about ones thinking that they believe allowing someone to keep more of what they earn rather than redistributing it to someone else is some sort of gift.

Re: Trumpcare 2.1
Also, why are we calling people not choosing to purchase health insurance "losing healthcare"? Talk about a lie. As if they are not going to the same emergency room when they hurt themselves.

Re: Trumpcare 2.1
Because the reason they aren't "purchasing health insurance" is because they will be kicked off their current one, or be priced out of the market for the ones that will be available. that's not a choice.Foo wrote:Also, why are we calling proplevchoising to. It removes the obama tax increase.showa58taro wrote:But they are nto fixing the healthcare system. In reality, all they can do is remove Obamacare because it was done through reconciliation. Since Dems will not support anything, the 60 votes needed to do more than budget stuff will not happen.
So yeah, there is no fix. It is basically this or force people into continue buying from exchanges which now just have one or two very high priced options. Obamacare has already failed. Without support to fix it from democrats, all they can do is this.
Re: Trumpcare 2.1
How do you know everyone's reason? Yes, it is too expensive. That is the failure of Obamacare. It was a bad idea from the start. It is a program that is only popular with the people who got it for free.showa58taro wrote:Because the reason they aren't "purchasing health insurance" is because they will be kicked off their current one, or be priced out of the market for the ones that will be available. that's not a choice.Foo wrote:Also, why are we calling proplevchoising to. If I rent a car every day because my boss requires it, and I suddenly stop renting the car because my boss no longer requires it, have I lost the ability to drive?

Yeah, because those people couldn't get anything before it. Hence, it fixed a problem that this bill will bring back. It's not about popularity, it's about the objective of what it sought to do.Foo wrote:How do you know everyone's reason? Yes, it is too expensive. That is the failure of Obamacare. Trumpcare has nothing like an objective, hence it being so goddamned awful that Republicans from both extremes are saying no, and it is considered as tremendously unpopular among EVERYONE. Dems, Republicans, Libs, Cons, everyone brands it as garbage. The House version had something like 9% approval as it was drafted. 16% said it was the right direction. That's cataclysmic numbers.
Re: Trumpcare 2.1
Why do you think those polls mean anything? Not a single person they polled read or understands anything, and even something as basic as "who are you voting for" is constantly wrong.showa58taro wrote:Yeah, because those people couldn't get anything before it. You are falling into the trap of not understanding it either, and thinking something is better than nothing. Most of those people they call "insured", really have nothing. It is a sick joke played on the stupid.
Do you have any idea how many people pay monthly for the minimum Obamacare insurance to only discover it does not cover any of what they actually use? But they are "insured"...

Would of been nice if a few Democrats had the nuts to say Obamacare was terrible and would quickly destroy itself while screwing millions of Americans with overpriced shitty healthcare.

Re: Trumpcare 2.1
Is go a step further. They should put forward a bill themselves as they see it. Be substantive not just "anti-Trump" . I said for 6 years the Republican obstructionism was retarded. If Democrats do the same then they're no better. Bring back bipartisan politics. Be a solution not an obstacle.Tiggnutz wrote:Would of been nice if a few Democrats had the nuts to say Obamacare was terrible and would quickly destroy itself while screwing millions of Americans with overpriced shitty healthcare.

Exactly. Of the Republicans were garbage for 6 years, its no good the Democrats now doing the exact same thing. It just perpetuates this constant polarized nonsense.Headhunter wrote:This.
