Just finished the 3rd season of True Detective. Much better than season 2, but a distant 2nd place to the first season. Which should come as no shock to anyone who's seen the first season. The first two episodes of season three really drew me in. Then it kinda took on a slow burn until the last two episodes. I thought it was a pretty good ending, definitely different and unpredictable. Solid season, for sure.

Stephen Dorff ice skate uphill?
Re: What are you watching?
Nah, but he and Ali were about equally awesome. He was a great compliment to Ali, who was essentially the lead actor of the show.Reign in Blood wrote:Stephen Dorff ice skate uphill?

And now onto 11.22.63.
Oddly enough, I purchased this about a month ago and have been planning to watch the show (8 episode miniseries) after I finished up with True Detective Season 3. There's a really cute actress named Sarah Gadon in season 3 and I looked her up to see what else she's in and was surprised to see she plays one of the leads in 11.22.63.
Sort of having myself a Sarah Gadon marathon.

Phenomenal book. One of my favorites. I haven't seen the show yet though.Jason wrote:And now onto 11.22.63.

Anything regarding the JFK assassination will draw major intrigue from me. I'm obsessed with that case. Just from reading the plot outline, I gathered they probably weren't going to be open to theories other than Oswald being the lone assassin, but in the first episode they at least mention the possibility of another shooter, or even Oswald being innocent. Which is good enough for me. I prefer to at least see open-mindedness regarding that case. It's shaping up nicely after just one episode. It's not the same dramatic epic that True Detective is, but that is no knock on it at all. Seems like it's gonna be a fun, dramatic fantasy story. My favorite little thing they did so far was when James Franco went back in time to 1960, he ate a pie at a diner and said it was "insanely good". The waitress gave him a funny look and he kind of corrected his statement. I loved the attention to dialogue, there. I'm entirely certain that nobody spoke like that in 1960. lol. I have major pet peeve issues with movies that take place in earlier times like the 80's or something, and people are speaking to each other and saying "like, literally", which really doesn't at all convince me that they're anywhere near the 80's. :pMonster wrote:Phenomenal book. If the DVD I bought had a digital code, we'd both own the show. :p

To be honest, I'd completely forgotten there even was a show until you mentioned it. I need to watch it. The book goes into Oswald's personal and home life quite a bit. Fascinating stuff.Jason wrote:Anything regarding the JFK assassination will draw major intrigue from me. I'm obsessed with that case. The Stand
Double checked that it's not on that Stephen King list from Dish Network, just in case I get selected, and I really just feel like watching it. The blu ray really is sharper than that dvd, and I dig it's on one disc that'll just play all the way through.
Special Features was disappointing though.

Re: What are you watching?
I think it's funny Mick Garris made such a stink a little while back that a blu ray couldn't be made because the low grade film stock wouldn't scale right. The producers of this blu ray was like "hold my beer."
