October Challenge Discussion Thread 2019
Re: October Challenge Discussion Thread 2019
Really nice tone-setting score for the opening credits.

Dude is in here looking for his friend, Artie.
If you drink every time he says "Hey, Artie?!" you will die of alcohol poisoning before the movie is over.

WHOA... There's Artie. :p
Re: October Challenge Discussion Thread 2019
Pretty blown away by these opening kills. Very impressive.
Re: October Challenge Discussion Thread 2019
The Lift was a fun one. Kills weren't that impressive but I liked the story and how dark and enclosed the ending scenes were. I was so worried for the repair guy.

De Lift is perhaps one of my favorite Dutch horror movies, but Amsterdamned pretty good too.
And to Jason, Supernatural is a movie I rather enjoyed. I think when my list still existed, it was on my top 100 80's horror flicks.

About an hour into B.O.R.N. (1989), which includes some names like P.J. Soles (Halloween) and Clint Howard (Ice Cream Man), and I'll admit to being pretty impressed with this. I was expecting something hammy, but aside from Soles, this movie is pretty dark and enticing.

Boy am I glad that one is over...Mansion of Madness has got to be in my top 10 worst movies, and I have no such list...lol.
Re: October Challenge Discussion Thread 2019
The Crucifixion...ugh. Painful to get through. Felt like 90 minutes of all overused exorcism scenarios thrown together. *cringes*
Re: October Challenge Discussion Thread 2019
I will have to get back to the NOES marathon later because I'm comfortable as fuck right now and want to watch a movie in bed. I need a bedroom Blu-ray player. So I'm starting a new watch Boar

Death by Invitation (1971) was one of the most boring things I've seen in my life.

First viewing of The Wailing
Re: October Challenge Discussion Thread 2019
The Wailing is good stuff. I thought about that ending long after the movie was over.
Just popped on Hatchet. Was happy to see Prime had it. I need to pick this one up one of these days.

Re: October Challenge Discussion Thread 2019
Random shit about films mentioned:
The Gate is brilliant. The sequel, not so much, but still fun. I watched it countless times when I was a kid.
I liked Dead Pit enough to write a song based on it back in the day. It ended up being a staple during our shows.
Langoliers is kinda shitty, but Bronson Pinchot is fantastic as the bad guy. Worth watching just for him.
Since I have limited time, I've only seen Prey(the 2019 film) so far. Very predictable with a dumbass ending. Not total garbage, but easily forgettable.

Re: October Challenge Discussion Thread 2019
Two really solid first-time viewings today, being B.O.R.N. (1989) and Konchû daisensô (1968). I'd say I liked B.O.R.N. more, but both were pretty decent. Death by Invitation is perhaps the worst movie I've seen so far this month.

Yeah, there's a legendary level of bad-overacting with him that he's watchable in it lol.Slaughterhouserock wrote:

Challenge is on hold (sort of) as I head to L.A. to meet the peeps of Madman (1982). There will be a free screening of the movie after I buy the vinyl soundtrack. From there, gonna check out the NOES House, and the filming locations from Halloween, the Christine house and the NOES house.

So far Cellblock 11 isn't a shitfest. Yay! I'm actually invested in the ghosthunter's dilema, and they can sorta act.
Cameo from Dee Wallace as their bitchy boss. Nice.
