A very good epilogue. Don't want to say too much.

Just finished Dead House. I can't believe i had hopes from the trailer. It was absolute crap. Especially the ending. Just a horrible storyline.

Watching The Searchers for the first time. Been wanting to get around to it. I'm setting my John Wayne bias aside to give this a shot.
Though I'm like 15 minutes in, and John's still terrible.

Not only was John Wayne a terrible actor, there's never been more of a phony tough guy in Hollywood. A military hero in his own mind.
That said, he was in some truly great movie. But he's never the standout. John Ford just loved the image he projected.

I did think he was good in True Grit though. Not great, certainly not Best Actor Oscar worthy (pretty sure that was a career Oscar), but enough to tell me he doesn't always stink.
I overall liked The Searchers, but the strange comedy cues and John's performance were setbacks for me. Beautifully shot though. I could see why it's an influential movie.

Red River and Rio Bravo are my two favorite Wayne movies, and both Howard Hawks movies, not John Ford. Hawks might be the most oddly overlooked director ever. His career ws incredible.

I should put both of those on a watch list. Rewatch for Rio Bravo, but new for Red River.

Barbarian and the Geisha is pretty solid. Never heard of Big Jake but it sounds like something ol Marion would have liked other people to call him.

Re: What are you watching?
Think I saw Big Jake somewhere on Prime. I'll put that on the list too.
Re: What are you watching?
"That is so not the same." Pretty sure no one talked like that in the 70s. That bothers me.
