The most memorable moment of Keri Russell's career (imo). I will never forget how hard, but quietly, I laughed in the theater, and how trying to suppress it only made me laugh harder. This was supposed to be a really scary scene.

Everywhere I'm seeing says that's Rey. Keri is playing some "scoundrel" character named Zorri Bliss.

Oh no, Star Wars fans are mad again! Who could have predicted that.

The funny thing to me is a fanboy called me a hater while in reality, I like more of these movies than they do. Haven’t seen Solo or this one yet but I’m cool with 7, Rogue One and 8. All solid films I think. They’re emotional roller coasters with all of them, but I’m the one who hates Star Wars.

Shocker :P

But I do see one of my friends whose a harsh critic of JJ actually was cool with the new one. So that's sort of hope for my viewing tomorrow :P

Nah, I'll probably like it, I like them all, just all varying degrees.

Of the four other people I went with, my daughter and I were the only ones who liked it. People seem intent on comparing it to the original trilogy and that's expecting too much. Fun movie that went by much faster than the 2:30 runtime. I'll be seeing it again.

It's weird how people take it so personally. It's a movie franchise, not an asshole stepdad your mom forced into your life. Simply don't watch it.

It's a silly thing. People build their identity around these films, and at this point they dislike more Star Wars films than they like.

I'm betting I'll like this one as well.

One thing I can understand fans being frustrated with though: why the hell did they structure this so nobody is overseeing the trilogy to make sure it's a consistent entity? Trevorrow gets kicked out (in a vacuum, I'm fine with that), Rian Johnson runs over Abrams' ideas and now Abrams returns the favor? That is a damn mess.

Maybe instead of humiliating George Lucas and freezing him out of his creation, he should have been the one making sure the individual filmmakers was coordinating this thing. Say what you want about George the writer, and Harrison Ford probably said it best: "George, you can write this shit, but you can't say it"...but the guy is a master world builder and he would have kept the train on the tracks all the way through.

Way it should have been anyways, force George to get proper help but let him see it through.

It never sat right with me the way George was treated in this process. Not gonna cry for him given the empire and fortune he's built, but Star Wars is his universe.

was george lucas still in a position that he could have made more star wars, before he sold to disney? i thought he was so disillusioned by prequels reaction that he didn't know where to go or couldn't find the motivation. was it more than that?

The original plan was to make 7 and then step down, but there was an understanding that the new filmmakers would use his outlines. Eventually he decided he wouldn't direct any of them, but the final stipulation of his sale to Disney was that they use his stories. Then Disney told Abrams not to use them.
