In all seriousness, I do feel okay. I have a very slight dry cough and a slightly sore throat. I don't have a fever or feel sick. I'll keep everyone posted. Currently taking advantage of this lockdown/quarantine stuff by simply thinking about job options in Colorado. I might be done here in California soon. I'm eyeing a trucking job where I used to work as a driver helper before I ever got my class A. I had a great reputation over there and hopefully I'll be remembered. It's been about 7 years since I worked there. But if I get in there, they have about 35 distribution centers in Colorado and if I get the job I'd probably seek a transfer when I get prepared for a move. Assuming everything goes to plan.

At this point, though. I imagine I'll keep away from a job for another month or two because of this virus and my missing spleen (lol). No idea if this is what will play out for me, but it feels good to daydream about getting out of here. Leaving parents and friends behind kills me to think about, though.

Any virus rated masks should be going to hospitals and nursing/care homes that work with vulnerable populations. Gloves are useless unless you are changing them between items and even then you aren't going to be protected from picking up something contaminated with the virus and bringing it home only to touch it to put it away.

I'm leaving groceries in bags for a few days so no one touches them before the virus hopefully has a chance to die off. I've been washing items in plastic containers with soapy water. Taking these precautions because of where I work and because my mother-in-law lives with me.

They are trying to make us wear surgical masks and gloves at work but I'm refusing the mask because I can't breathe with them on and surgical masks are for body fluids, not viruses. I have a set next to me so I can throw them on if a resident gets up because they've been freaking out about no masks, doesn't matter that the masks we have wouldn't be protective regardless, but they are scared and the news is freaking them out but people keep putting the news on.) We do not have virus rated masks where I work, if we did I'd wear them and risk hyperventilating and passing out. But honestly, the odds of me having been exposed are low, literally the only places I've been are at work and home, neither mark nor his mom have left the house in over a week and, except for work, neither have I. If I was exposed, most likely my exposure would be through work as I'm the only one of my coworkers not interacting with anyone outside of my immediate household and workplace. (My boss keeps going to her daughter's house to take care of her grandson, and the grandson has still been having playdates otherwise, and my boss recently drove a friend home from the airport, her exposure risk is high.

I'm about a hair's width from just quitting my job because the lack of common sense is frustrating me. I'm washing my hands like I always have and adding in hand sanitizer as needed (between interacting with different residents mostly, but also if I have to open any doors or drawers for anything.

I'm treating it like a conspiracy, there's a group out there watching our reaction to this to see if biological warfare would be stopped by extreme government measures or if we'd let our freedom and pride get in the way of eradicating a new virus by staying indoors and away from other people for a few weeks. Right now I'm leaning towards the second option and the group with nefarious ideas would be gleeful at that outcome.

You live next to your parents right? Keep in phone contact with them so they know to check on you if you don't check in but physically keep your distance from them if they are at risk at all and sanitize your house as much as you can then stick to one area.

Yeah. My nephew lives over there right now as well and he has strep throat. My Mom took him to urgent care (NOT the ER) and they said it was only strep throat. Hoping maybe that's what I got instead of the virus, but I'll see how I feel when I wake up tomorrow morning.

Good news is that strep is quite contagious so that is a likely possibility. Bad news is strep can kick your ass pretty hard and can get complicated. I'd suggest urgent care, wear a mask and get it tested and tell them about your lack of spleen. You'd be at risk for the more severe complications of strep and will likely have a harder time kicking it without medical help.
