I remember being very meh about Cannibal Holocaust, and was given shit for it here for not praising it to high hell.

Cannibal Holocaust is great for what it is. The gore is fantastic given the location and budget, which is why I give it praise. For the time, the shock value was extreme, but it doesn't age well since the shock value is non-existent in a time when pushing boundaries is the norm. I used to say it was a mandatory for horror fans, but now, it's mostly only worth watching for people that want to see the history of shock and gore films. Also, it's more of a commentary on ethics and exploitation and shit than a straight horror film, so it's a bit off-putting in that regard.

i'm not the biggest fan of cannibal holocaust, but it's not a chore, at all, to sit through like one of his previous recent choices. :P

if you had to choose between only ever having films adapted from a previous source (and the sequels or remakes that come along with them) or only ever having original screenplay films (and sequels/remakes that come from them), what would you choose?

I've never seen Cannibal Holocaust. Probably one of the more popular movies I've not gotten to yet.

I'd vote for a third option. ;)

Can I just say that people who make fun of virgins are assholes? They're also the ones most likely to label people who aren't virgins as sluts.

From my perspective whether or not someone is a virgin had no bearing on who they were as a person. Personally, I find it commendable to not lower your standards just to remove the stigma of something that has no real impact in the world. I don't really have anything to compare it to, but I'm told you don't magically feel like a different person after losing it, so I don't get the fascination/obsession with it on either side of things.

Want to be celibate your whole life? Cool, be safe and enjoy.

Want to bang everyone you come across? Cool, be safe and have fun.
Have to say, as a 26-year old virgin, I appreciate this take. I pretty much never tell any friends that I've not had sex - I hear how both some males and females shame it. Dealing with a life-long depression isn't bad enough, I get to hear Joe talk about how virgin guys aren't really men. Sure, that's useful. *rolls eyes while shoots self* :P

Previous source being a previous film(i.e. a remake), or something like books and shit? If the previous source can be anything, then either option could provide an abundance of new films. A good example would be The Colour Out of Space by Lovecraft. It's had three film adaptations, all different. If it's just remakes, fuck that noise.

i was thinking adapted, as from other mediums. i included remakes (and sequels) that come down the line, to follow the original screenplay films or to follow the adapted screenplay films.

either way, you can have a ton of films. a limited number of possible films isn't an issue.

Losing your virginity means fuckall. You put your dick in someone else, big fucking deal. Everything with a dick does that, what makes it special? Anyone that says otherwise is living a fairly meaningless life that revolves around their dick. If that's all you're living for, I'd say that sucks, but to each their own. It was a big deal in our teens because hormones and shit, but now? Who gives a fuck? I lost my virginity around 16, but didn't have sex again for years. Hell, I've gone thirteen years without at one point, and I don't give a fuck. Sex is only notable if it means something. Honestly, meaningless sex is just masturbating with someone else's body. Interesting, but a waste of time and energy.

Didn't mean to rant, but I have opinions and shit.

I'm blind apparently. Either one would lead to new films, so I'm good with either. There's tons of good books that could be adapted to film, and there's tons of screenplays out there that aren't getting made because producers are idiots.

whether you're a virgin or you have sex at every given chance, has absolutely no bearing on your worth as a person.

How does everyone feel about Bolthouse Farms' drinks? Never really had them before, but after my workplace had them on a buy 1, get 1 free sale, I've sampled many of them, and generally find them pretty good. Their peach parfait was on point.

Got my Majesty Guitar today. The Stealth Black finish is so purty, and I didn't even notice the fretboard was gonna be ebony (I assumed rosewood, honestly).

About to start up Eden Lake. Saw this maybe twice before. Not the most fun movie, but I do recall it being quality.
